Many motorcycles didn't come with cats in the 2000s, combined with lots of high strung 600s running massive valve overlap.

But the modern class of commuter bike has got to be pretty good. Drag coefficient is poor but they're also a much smaller area, and city driving is more forgiving for aero.

Be interested to know which part of it is fake news eh.

The culmination of the recent tweets and actions presents this as having more of a personal tone than a grand indictment of big companies relationship with open source.

Cheers, alternators are essentially magic to me. Id have presumed they were generating 'enough' power at all times the engine was running.
I'm not much for electronics. Can you explain how playing the stereo affects mileage?

i used to agree, but i've found a 3.5mm aux cord can fall out quite easily over bumps as the phone gets old. otherwise completely agree.

Uber eats doesn't even operate in outer suburbs, Menulog/eatnow does
What do you mean? Brakes must be mechanically connected, I believe it's the law here.
Can anyone else comment or corroborate this? I don't disbelieve you but it's a gigantic if substantiated and would definitely get me to leave the platform.
Re:Magnet link generator on Saturday February 23, 2019 @09:23PM (#19236761)
The DHT performs poorly for unpopular hashes, cold starts and with poorly configured networking. Particularly the last point, an open udp port is required for best results.
Re:Magnet link generator on Saturday February 23, 2019 @09:22PM (#19236755)
No. You need to match all the metadata in the info part of the torrent file, the final hash is a hash of that info dictionary. The fields you lack are largely name and piece size, but without the original file you cannot create the hash of each correctly sized piece. If you have the constituent file (not just it's sha1) you could eventually get it by trying common piece sizes and knowing its name.

*Edit, I overlooked somethkng.

Re:Tesla Model 3 Owners Vent About Polar Vortex Affecting Cars on Tuesday February 05, 2019 @10:44PM (#19092528)
i think its worth noting that at least the summary presented on this page could be sliced into two sections

1: different usage of accessories to make the occupants comfortable, e.g. warming up interior for longer, running heated seats... 2: physical changes that affect the overall car: denser air resistance, higher rolling resistance..

the one point that is specific to an ICE engine is friction from running colder oils, the rest seem to apply to both ICE, hybrid and electric vehicles, the latter two more so.

overall the takeaway seems to be that most losses in an ICE vehicles are not about the powertrain, whereas a hybrid/electric vehicle has almost all the losses of an ICE vehicle but with significantly more battery degradation.

Re:Tesla Model 3 Owners Vent About Polar Vortex Affecting Cars on Tuesday February 05, 2019 @10:30PM (#19092469)
i think you'll find that the M3 name is already occupied.
30% is the efficiency of the energy in fuel being turned into work.

You need to consider the efficiency of the power generation, power lines, battery and then the electric motor. Any other comparison is misleading.

are they actually the noisiest? don't all vehicles have to be measured under the same dB threshold?
how popular do you really think it is in the average population...
there was the funny magic string that would make half a channels modems disconnect too.

Re:Fully digital valves open up engine possibilities on Sunday August 12, 2018 @11:55PM (#17747921)
that really makes the most sense. at that point i imagine it would be a more finely controlled compression release. i shouldn't read too much into the wording of what is essentially a marketing statement i suppose :)
Re:Fully digital valves open up engine possibilities on Sunday August 12, 2018 @11:54PM (#17747918)
agree. but you can barely get a 2 stroke passed the existing emission laws, and they're not generally in use in motor racing outside of enduro. ¯\(°_o)/¯
Re:Fully digital valves open up engine possibilities on Sunday August 12, 2018 @08:17PM (#17747232)
Nitpicky, but compression release for easy (easier..) starting is already a thing. It talks about completely opening the valves so the starter only overcomes friction. Presumably they're talking about having the cylinders that aren't yet fired spinning over freely? Otherwise it's a very efficient way to spin and engine that can't possibly start without "compressing gasses".
Re:Fully digital valves open up engine possibilities on Sunday August 12, 2018 @08:08PM (#17747196)
Also the "2 strokes are the future" remark seems a bit off too. The future of enduro bikes and chainsaws maybe.
Re:Fully digital valves open up engine possibilities on Sunday August 12, 2018 @08:07PM (#17747186)
The temporary 2 stroke idea doesn't sound very well cooked. Fine control over the valves is great, but the exhaust and other aspects of the engine need to be tuned for that use case.

Re:Why is the #2 torrent in DHT a 25Mb file named AF.dat? on Saturday November 21, 2015 @05:38PM (#10608326)
i'm pretty sure the most popular torrent in the DHT doesnt have 644 downloads in the last week.

this must be measuring downloads/hits from btdigg.org (only), so someone is linking directly to it and relying on them to jump clients into the DHT perhaps?
