Does this already include the parliament's position based on a trilogue or will there be amendments before it's voted in parliament?
I appreciate the answer and the work on GrapheneOS! It seems there's a lot of work going on with the QPR1 release and this French matter doesn't make things easier for the team. Good luck!
To be fair, the quote in the second article is from Johanna Brousse who is behind the Durov arrest.

> "Mais ça ne nous empêchera pas de poursuivre les éditeurs, si des liens sont découverts avec une organisation criminelle et qu’ils ne coopèrent pas avec la justice."

> “But that won't stop us from prosecuting publishers if links to a criminal organization are discovered and they fail to cooperate with the justice system.” (DeepL)

I understand this can be seen as more threatening even if the whole quote softens this a bit.

Can you link these publication containing threats here?
HN title: "France threatens GrapheneOS with arrests / server seizure for refusing backdoors"

In the (very short) linked article: No mention of arrest, server seizure or backdoor, and a more nuanced take. Loosely translated summary: Some users have a legitimate need to protect their communications. IF we find links with criminal organizations AND there is no cooperation, then we might take action. They're specifically taking the approach of a case by case hack of single phones which might cost up to a million euros. Is this an issue if there's a warrant?

This seems blown out of proportion?

> Sculpt is an open-source general-purpose OS. It combines Genode's microkernel architecture, capability-based security, sandboxed device drivers, and virtual machines in a novel operating system for commodity PC hardware and the PinePhone. _Sculpt is used as day-to-day OS by the Genode developers_.

European Commission: Commissioners are nominated by elected national governments and must be approved by the directly elected European Parliament.

Council of the EU: Ministers are accountable to their national parliaments, which are elected by citizens.

European Council: Composed of heads of state/government who were elected in their own countries.

European Parliament: Members are directly elected by EU citizens every five years.

But why start from scratch with a “Linux phone” when we can continue on the basis of GrapheneOS. The source is there and it works.

Apps that require Google Play Service or some form of attestation will not run on a Linux phone either.

Any way for other AI apps to do that. It could be nice to have a local open source app doing the same. Does something like that exist?
Gemalto was hacked 15 years ago:

> "AMERICAN AND BRITISH spies hacked into the internal computer network of the largest manufacturer of SIM cards in the world, stealing encryption keys used to protect the privacy of cellphone communications across the globe, according to top-secret documents provided to The Intercept by National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden."

Sure but you linked articles about the 5G positioning system which the UE could choose not to participate to.

Interesting idea. There are also solo board games that can be carried in your pocket. Some of them listed here: https://boardgamegeek.com/geeklist/273744/small-box-solo-gam...

Recommendations are welcome :)

I don’t think this page is affiliated with GrapheneOS. See https://privsec.dev/about/

Have you tried using "Tools -> Verbatim"?

That’s so nice. I hate when stuff moves in my vision when I’m trying to read something.

Re:WireGuard multihop available in the Mullvad app on Tuesday April 12, 2022 @01:25PM (#31005669)
I’m wondering how this compares to Apple’s iCloud Private Relay.

Mullvad is trying to increase their transparency and make sure users can trust them which is great. But would there be a way for them to make it so that users do not have to trust them? What if the second server was hosted by another entity?

The source of the linked article seems to be the following BBC article which I find contains more information: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-60507831

Re:In Praise of Idleness (1932) on Thursday November 25, 2021 @06:22AM (#29340367)
The antiwork subreddit is now too popular and the signal to noise ratio has therefore dropped sharply. If you want to have some impression of why work can be criticized, In Praise of Idleness is much more interesting.
Re:Get Ready for iCloud Private Relay on Tuesday June 08, 2021 @06:16PM (#27441760)
The way I understand it, Warp is just a VPN without the double proxy setup of Private Relay. Is there any commercial service similar to Private Relay? Tor is not great for day to day usage but a Tor Lite could be good enough for most people.
Re:Apple Platform Security February 2021 on Thursday February 18, 2021 @04:24PM (#26185798)
I’d like to know how I’m still logged in in Twitch even after deleting and installing the app. Or how Spotify offered me to link it to an Alexia device I was setting up after I installed the Alexa app.
You can on iOS Safari. I never understood why it was disabled by default.

It's the reason I got an Apple watch 3 as a sport watch: all the other options seemed to want to upload everything online.
