One chained sandbox escape away from compromise.
Re:Let's compile Quake like it's 1997 on Friday May 29, 2026 @10:29AM (#48323547)
This drips of nostalgia. Quake being the first "lan party" title at college definitely makes me realize my age, but I credit this game for my interest in understanding LAN topologies, networking, latency and learning about multiplayer real-time interaction.
Re:The Agent2Agent Protocol (A2A) on Wednesday April 09, 2025 @11:08AM (#43633017)
I can envision a future where we maintain a set of AI agent subscriptions that can perform tasks for us based on what we pay for, with the best models and agents costing much more that the freemium ones. This along with a heavily tweaked and customized open-source community that maintains their own non-subscription capabilities.
Re:A memory leak in Apple's Network Extension framework on Thursday November 14, 2024 @10:08AM (#42136880)
base sudo leaks at.obdev.littlesnitch.networkextension | grep "total leaked bytes" Password: Process 310 is not debuggable. Due to security restrictions, leaks can only show or save contents of readonly memory of restricted processes.

Process 310: 314990 leaks for 967643488 total leaked bytes.

Ouch!

Re:Show HN: A tool for creating chord charts on the go on Friday October 04, 2024 @11:01AM (#41742133)
Amazing - you've got my money! and a feature request to maybe add variations to each of the chords (inversions, arps, etc) when you edit them, and maybe a player/looper to preview the sketched ideas!
Re:Show HN: A tool for creating chord charts on the go on Friday October 04, 2024 @10:46AM (#41741981)
Before I spend the dollars for this, does it play/preview the chord for you when you tap it or long press it?
Re:Australia's 'Bluey' conquered childrens' entertainment on Friday January 05, 2024 @11:44AM (#38881116)
Also interesting is the strangeness of the theme song time signature and game that goes along with it! https://www.businessinsider.in/entertainment/news/people-are... https://eightify.app/summary/music-and-performance/decoding-...
Re:Hundreds of birds suddenly drop from the sky [video] on Tuesday February 15, 2022 @04:21PM (#30352904)
This exact same thing happened in my front yard, except it was on a much smaller scale. The cause - falcon chasing the flock of birds into the house. It actually chased them several times until it finally forced several to hit the side. The falcon then proceeded to fly away with the dead and injured one at a time.
Re:DIY Boat Monitoring System on Thursday May 06, 2021 @11:48AM (#27065048)
Brilliant work, my initial thoughts are that it might be significantly less work to patch/seal/address the leaks in the hull than to engineer, build, install, monitor the electronics for this. Is this not the case?
Re:Is your son a computer hacker? (2001) on Tuesday May 04, 2021 @11:23AM (#27038572)
Did he ask for one of these for his birthday? https://surplus.gov.ab.ca/OA/ItemDetail.aspx?AuctionID=31633
Re:Rendering Moana with Swift on Thursday January 14, 2021 @04:40PM (#25782998)
Does anyone know of a project to convert this to an explorable d map in a game engine? It seems that it would be possible by simplifying the model and rendering it in real-time.
Re:XVA1 – FPGA based synthesizer updated on Tuesday September 15, 2020 @10:19AM (#24481441)
The latest release candidate for the XVA1 FPGA synthesizer has been released. It offers a 32 voice virtual analog synthesizer.
Re:Linux from Scratch on Friday August 21, 2020 @06:02PM (#24239339)
Nice! I know the project maintainer and he is really methodical about everything he does. Nice work Gerard.
If you want to even further back you can look at the side channel attacks shown in person at the CanSecWest conference in 2009 - https://cansecwest.com/csw09/csw09-barisani-bianco.pdf

The most interesting part might be the frequency analysis that was done after getting the signal. It was amazing to see the words get decoded in real-time.

This is literally the best RegEx tutorial that I've ever gone through.
