Re:Ask HN: Did your AWS bill literally double from last night? on Saturday September 21, 2019 @09:22PM (#21039027)
I wonder if AWS is prepping for a pricing hike but someone was trigger happy with the big red button :D
Re:How not to hire a software engineer on Tuesday April 02, 2019 @11:39AM (#19555282)
Thank you for writing this. I really hope common sense prevails soon. I have no idea how we got to the point where the "test" for a job has nothing to do with the job. I think senior engineers and tech leads need to actively work to kill this culture. I personally will never interview someone for my team by using some random questions from the internet that have nothing to do with what the candidate will work on. Again, great post

Point noted :) we will continue to monitor the feedback on this.

We are still in BETA, so we are definitely still very light on features. Lots more are coming, but we figured we'd take an iterative approach.

Show HN: MiDrive – Self-hosted Dropbox-like interface for your S3 bucket

Hello HN! I and a buddy created MiDrive (https://www.midrive.io) and we’re sharing it here, hoping other folks find it as useful as we do. MiDrive deploys a lightweight stack into your AWS account which then gives you a fancy interface to browse your S3 bucket. Use the discount code BETALAUNCH for a free download, and please share whatever comments you have :) Thank you HN!

Re:Please Make Google AMP Optional on Monday June 12, 2017 @04:46PM (#14540978)
Even if people are for/against AMP, I think it does make sense to have AMP optional. For instance Google searches will often show the "Ad"-ified link at the top, but with the regular link somewhere below in the search results. Google could just as easily have the AMP and non AMP links in the search results if they aren't really the evil corp everyone thinks they are :)
Thanks a lot for the comment! Gotta do a better job of interpreting peoples responses and not necessarily immediately assume them to be negative. I also find some comments that are actually negative usually have something positive I can take away from it, so working on that "skill" as well :)

Ask HN: How to evangelize your startup idea amidst overwhelming negativity

I read a lot on HN that talking to lots of people about your startup idea is great for a lot of reasons (making connections, learning from folks who understand the market better, finding people with similar interests etc.). I agree with this. However, what do you do when a vast majority of the people you talk to offer nothing but negative comments? Some background: * I do not believe my startup...
