Re:NBA Events in China Disrupted over Hong Kong Tweet on Thursday October 10, 2019 @04:52PM (#21219044)
We should boycott the NBA and find ways to help bring freedom to China.
Re:Blizzard's Weibo Account Just Posted an Apology To China on Thursday October 10, 2019 @10:20AM (#21214778)
Boycott Blizzard and tell all your friends to do the same.
Re:Apple Removes HKmap.live from the App Store on Thursday October 10, 2019 @10:19AM (#21214767)
Boycott Apple for sucking up to China. Google products are at least a year ahead now anyways and Google actually left China altogether at one point.
Any US company that sells technology to China supporting these sorts of big brother population control should be held criminally liable for its end use.
We should all boycott Blizzard and not buy their games regardless of how good they are. We should try and convince everyone we possibly can to join us. Freedom and preventing unjust state beatings and murder is more important than having some fun.
Re:China and Taiwan Clash over Wikipedia Edits on Wednesday October 09, 2019 @10:00AM (#21203306)
I agree, China is now a nightmare dictatorship. We should do everything we possibly can to support the free peoples remaining in Hong Kong and Taiwan and perhaps start pushing freedom into China.
I think we all need to boycott Blizzard and the NBA for putting money over freedom and democracy.
Re:South Park Scrubbed from Chinese Internet on Tuesday October 08, 2019 @12:11PM (#21193819)
I wonder what Chinese citizens think when a popular show like South Park just completely disappears?

I usually appreciate South Park and it's very strong morals. I think we all need to boycott the NBA and Blizzard for putting money over freedom.

Re:'South Park' creators issue a mocking 'apology' to China on Tuesday October 08, 2019 @12:10PM (#21193806)
I love South Park and it's defense of freedom. We should boycott the NBA and blizzard for their cowardice and putting money ahead of democracy.
The Communist Party of China has throughout the protest been dressing up their agents like protesters and having them do bad things. I'm sure there are a few bad apples among the protesters, but I bet most of what you're seeing is actually government agents.
Require full payment or at least half payment upfront, and don't turn over any work until you get the final payment.
I love South Park and I'm extremely impressed by the morals the show has.

I think we all should boycott the NBA and Blizzard.

This will only stop a few American perpetrators.

Putin is running a total war against the west using propaganda as a primary weapon. Tens of thousands of people are putting up false websites and comments. They will not stop because of this law.

I think the Russian war on the west is far larger than even this article shows. I think Putin is treating this like a total war and directing massive resources of money and people to destabilize every country around the world he can. Russia had a major hand in supporting dictators in Venezuela and Syria, Putin has murdered indiscriminately around the globe without consequences. He purposely made public examples of some of the people murdered, but I am sure he has the ability to secretly murder people in make it look like heart attacks or something like that. I bet in 50 years we will discover Putin has had thousands of people killed overseas to go with the hundreds of thousands murdered in his own country. I work in PR and every day I see traces of the largest PR campaign I've ever seen. Just look in the comments of any newspaper and you will start to discover this.
Re:NHS opens clinic to help child addicts of computer games on Tuesday October 08, 2019 @11:50AM (#21193577)
I am really struggling to ever put my phone down. I get stuck in a loop of checking email, then Facebook, then a series of news websites including hacker news. Then repeat all day.
Read Superintelligence... An excellent book that reads like a study or a philosophy text on AI. I think there's a clear and present danger of human extinction.
This is a good point, law is the operating system for society. When you think about any given issue, you run into many sub-issues.

However, keep in mind this is Chinese law which at this point is only enforced selectively to back the goals of its dictator and the CCP. If dictator Xi Jumping did not want this feel good story to run, it would not have ran. If this farmer had any way even hinted it crossing the communist party of China, he probably would have been murdered and buried in his own field.

South Park is 100% right. We need to back them in their fight against a murderous totalitarian dictatorship holding millions of people in concentration camps.

We might like the cheap goods coming from China, but remember they come from people who are forced to work at 7 days a week 14 hours a day for nearly no pay.

Boycott the NBA and Blizzard and anyone else who won't start standing up for democracy.

We need to avoid getting lost in minor internal debates. I agree some classes of people in America have had more difficulty exercising their rights, but they always had those rights and the courts enforced them usually. What we are talking about with China and Russia is totalitarian dictatorships that come and take you from your home and beat you and murder you for making a comment on the internet they didn't like or even sharing a Winnie the Poo meme.

We need to all band together to fight this or we will lose all of our privileges and rights.

I think you're right that people are making a choice to get cheaper goods over promoting democracy. I think we need to make this choice more visible and strongly push companies and individuals to make choices that support democracy.
We should all boycott Blizzard and the NBA.
Re:Hong Kong protests: Authorities to announce face mask ban on Monday October 07, 2019 @12:17AM (#21177408)
We need to evacuate HK... Give all freedom fighters there the option for asylum and citizenship in any Western country.
Re:China laying tracks for 1,000km/h maglev trains on Saturday October 05, 2019 @08:55AM (#21165237)
This is not true. The interstate highway system was a massive improvement to our country and enabled us to leap ahead. There are always sour grapes from people who had to move, but moving should not be a big deal.
Re:Understanding Foreign Interference [pdf] on Monday September 23, 2019 @11:45PM (#21056304)
I agree, social media should require validation that you are a real person.
Re:Why baby boomers’ grandchildren will hate them on Wednesday September 18, 2019 @12:47PM (#21007214)
If we don't pay the national debt, the US economy would suffer enormously. Eventually people would lose trust in the US dollar itself causing hyperinflation which leads to the worst disasters in modern history.
Re:The American Brain on Wednesday September 18, 2019 @11:57AM (#21006693)
I agree. The article's key takeaway is that "Mute buttons in any form should raise red flags".
I would argue that reddit's comment system is far superior to that of HN.
