HN seems to be flagging the post for adding the full GH link
I wanted this on my TV, and I wanted it to stay current on its own. So I built an Apple TV app and a small backend that keeps the data fresh.
The app is open source. You build it in Xcode and sideload it. It works with a free Apple ID.

Andrej Karpathy built HackerTube last week. It’s a site of YouTube videos recommended in HN comments. I wanted it on my TV, and I wanted it to stay current on its own. almost done. uploading to GH once I clean some backend cron jobs (topic classifier using local llm, daily data pulls from HF, etc). and checking if Apple will allow me to list this on the tvOS App Store as a free app.

Making a tvOS app of this, in the coming week. Will share the code on GH.
should be able to support couple of chrome tabs
this. the culture that makes AWS the gold standard in cloud security (yes, it is still the best in the business despite the one-off embarrassing CapitalOne incident) with a strong emphasis on locking down data, minimizing PII, and saying “no” by default, is the very opposite of what building frontier LLMs is all about, which is really around hoovering up vast amounts of other peoples data and moving fast before the rules catch up.
yup, it's happening. many of the CEOs/CTOs of PE owned ISVs have their marching orders: put in strong product managers, software architects and other senior roles who define what to build and how the software should work, and thin out the developer teams, as agentic coding becomes the norm. Am not saying this makes for quality software, but this is where the industry is heading.
far wiser to sell shovels in a gold rush. let the miners take the risk. the shovel seller gets paid either way.
as an amazon shareholder, I applaud this.
I got the "Steve Jobs - The Lost 1995 Interview - Steve Jobs with a black T-Shirt - DVD9 VIDEO TS folder" version and used handbrake to convert all the VOBs to mp4, with correct speed and aspect ratio. Also has the bonus Andy Hertzfeld interview.

Yes, running Qwen 3.8 flash next on a 5090 with 96GB of RAM, using Strata. Fast and good.
Took Prof Hickman's Digital Arts class when I was at UofO. Just a truly awesome human being.
And Prof Hickman, if for some reason you are on HN and reading this, thanks for giving me access to the Apollo Domain workstation.
I don’t think the evidence supports this. I have all five generations of Apple TV, including the original x86 box, and I’ve monitored their network traffic with sniffers. Nothing unusual has come out of any of them.
installed it with UD-IQ4_XS (~4-bit GGUF) on one 24 GB RTX 5090 + ~40 GB RAM. getting ~62 tok/s and 4-bit's holding up fine for coding and code refactoring.
using it currently to decompile an old Philip CD-I game and have it build a tvOS app.
Dvorak, Om and Robert. Damn. Their takes on tech taught me a lot and shaped how I think about this industry. RIP.
am going to try vibe-build an Apple tvOS version of Jeff Minter's T2K, complete with the Atari Jaguar blitter raster special effects
I'm Gen X. I lived my best life in the 80s and 90s, socializing, partying (frat boy years included), with alcohol as the main social lubricant. After Covid, almost everyone in my circle stopped or cut back on going out to bars and drinking, me included. It wasn't the price of drinks. Something about the lockdowns simply rewired the social norms (and our brains).
I feel for the farmers. I still miss a nicely chilled Margaret River Sauvignon Blanc now and then.
For Singapore's boomers, success once meant the 5 Cs: cash, car, credit card, condominium and country club. For today's young Singaporeans, these no longer define success.
Unfortunately the nearest MRT station is at least a 30 mins walk from where we live.
