Re:Just a little AI resistance, as a treat on Tuesday November 03, 2026 @09:32AM (#50352458)
I never contact customer service with a complaint, I just don't use them again. But I have, very occasionally, contacted customer service with a "could you pass on my thanks to ..." for a particularly good product or service. The last a couple of months ago to Marks & Spencer for whoever it was who discovered their Len de l'Ell wine, which is fabulous. I was so insulted by the AI response that I'll never do that again.

In "Having a specific conference for women in computing is definitely a DEI concern" I take concern to be the noun, Mirriam-Webster (1a) or (2) has something that relates or belongs to one : affair, from the context this would seem to be the definition that fits: DEI relates to such a conference, they're interested in it, rather than definition (1b) an uneasy state of blended interest, uncertainty, and apprehension which would lead to "concerning" but makes no sense in the context, as you note.

I have a witty and thought-provoking comment to add here, unfortunately I'm in the UK, so it would see me sent to prison.
They've found a way to be a bit more creepy, impressive

Huh? Someone saying something is a DEI concern does not mean they find it concerning.

Re:A simple liters to US and UK gallons converter on Saturday October 10, 2026 @07:40AM (#50031907)
Multiplication as a service!

In the UK, it's rare to hear of gallons; used to be used for petrol, but that's all litres now. And one is unlikely find a gallon in a recipe.

If they must fold to American prudery, at least Dinde ...
Look at the price of .si domains the weeks before the announcement, gravy train ...
Takes some getting used to: Only fill to the escape valve (3/4 of the way up, you can see it from the inside), fill with boiling water from the kettle, put it on a low heat, turn off the heat as soon as it starts to gurgle.

Now I want another too.

I really need a note-taking app but no-one seems to be able to vibe-code one, oh well ...
They're not expensive and last a lifetime, get one.
