Re:Siri AI on Monday June 08, 2026 @09:04PM (#48454791)
ironically they respect user privacy the most and collect the least amount of data that’s why they lag behind ai i don’t understand why you would expect them to win
Re:What Type of Exercise Is Best for Mental Health? on Sunday June 25, 2023 @10:52PM (#36475183)
I force myself to commute to work by bike. That is about 30 minutes one way. But I can not do it under bad weather conditions. Also not in freezing winter or hot summer.
great work! can't help but wonder how this is different from Dash app from Plotly
Re:Lessons Learned from Two Years as a Data Scientist on Saturday September 11, 2021 @02:17AM (#28489792)
Of course I have. Being able to integrate everything into a single software would be great. Every couple of months I tried using notebooks in VSCode I switched back. It’s so bittersweet
Re:Lessons Learned from Two Years as a Data Scientist on Saturday September 04, 2021 @11:26PM (#28421416)
Ironic that someone who works on VSCode at Microsoft does not use the notebook in VSCode but instead Jupyter
Re:OBS Studio 27.0 on Tuesday June 01, 2021 @08:08PM (#27363121)
My MacBook Pro fans are roaring like airplane engines after several minutes
Re:The Ultimate MacBook+PC Monitor Showdown on Saturday January 02, 2021 @12:43PM (#25614576)
I also find it a source of distraction in that the other monitor that I’m not currently working on disperses bright lights out of the corner of my eyes constantly vying for my attention
Re:Should you Work Hard? (2019) on Tuesday December 22, 2020 @12:21PM (#25508675)
I'm 99% with this, except that when you work so hard on the challenging deep work and there's no energy left to be able enjoy the glory of the success.
Re:Listenlater.fm – A Read-It-Later service for your ears on Monday December 07, 2020 @01:55PM (#25335662)
I can see this is very useful when I don’t have time to read when driving or don’t want to use my eyes after work. The elephant in the room is how do you cope with articles behind paywall?
Re:Show HN: Visualizing Deep Features from Podcasts on Sunday December 06, 2020 @11:14AM (#25324398)
Your viz techniques are stunning af. I'm afraid there might be too many moving parts on the canvas than enough to be not distracting to be honest.
Re:The psychology behind ‘revenge bedtime procrastination’ on Tuesday December 01, 2020 @12:18PM (#25267226)
It’s extremely difficult and requires lots of will power to dispose of your five different devices vying for your attention when you’re feeling “bored”before bed. These are like electronic drugs that makes everything enjoyable instantly available to us at a tap of a finger. However the joys coming out of screen are impulsive and transient, which increasingly makes me long for the simple and enduring fun time of the early days.
Interestingly, the ranking approaches used here are quite comparable to how those big giants do their recsys algorithms. The algorithms are never perfect and there will always be edge cases that even machines learning models cannot handle decently.
Very promising product. Having used PushBullet on my Pixel phone for such a long time, I’m scratching my head trying to find an alternative on iOS since it’s no longer available on the platform. I wonder if your app offers some kind of similar features, one of most prominent being sharing links and hopefully files between multiple devices, it be desktop or mobile.
I don't see your point. Code that's more modular, pluggable is by definition easier to delete. That should not be a reason to prevent us writing easy to delete code.

Being perfectly aligned with teammates on everything but ending up with a totally differently or straight wrong result. How do you justify that? Otherwise I'm with OP.
Re:How to Find New Music on Thursday January 30, 2020 @09:04PM (#22198314)
Here's my shameless plug, SPolarfy.com is a Flask web app that helps me to find similar tracks on Spotify according to their audio features.
Boredom brews greatness.

Re:Progressive React on Friday December 20, 2019 @08:03PM (#21848828)
So progressive that the minute I open the page, it crashes. Have no idea why that is.
Re:Music for Programming (2011) on Thursday December 12, 2019 @11:33AM (#21773324)
For me it's only gonna work if the music have already been what I use on repeat while doing other mundane tasks, like white noises sort of thing. Otherwise distraction for sure.
Re:Ask HN: Do you have personal bots? on Wednesday October 30, 2019 @03:43AM (#21395376)
I built a Reddit daily digest bot. It grabs top posts from each of a pool of subreddits that I'm interested in and send them via email on a daily basis. It's a open source [side project](https://github.com/jingw222/redditdailybot).
Re:The High Price of Multitasking on Friday August 02, 2019 @02:38AM (#20591025)
Multitasking is analogue to multithreading with GIL. As long as the tasks are computing/analytics intensive, you're better off dealing with them sequentially one at a time.
Re:Career advice I wish I’d been given when I was young on Tuesday April 30, 2019 @08:06PM (#19793282)
Find the biographies of people whose job you’d like to have, and figure out how they got there. You can effectively reverse engineer their career path.

I highly doubt that one.
