Re:Ask HN: I work in a data centre and we have to make it greener. Ideas? on Tuesday June 26, 2012 @07:45AM (#4161296)

Need more specifics, however;Google is testing a new system whereby servers are segregated from humans and run at much hotter temperatures.

Re:An awsome HackerNe.ws top story tracker on Tuesday June 19, 2012 @12:08AM (#4130210)

the short answer is yes, but it was a quick slap together project last night over a few beers instead of studying. So probably not till I get spare time and motivation.

Re:Microsoft Introduces New "Surface" Tablet on Monday June 18, 2012 @11:15PM (#4130064)

Because "Their own hardware" is still just the same crap that all the other manufacturers would have come up with, (and did come up with) for Microsoft to put their badge on. It's not a technological leap forward nor does it drastically alter the user interface paradigm.

Worth seeing, Yes, but definitely not a top of the list worthy post.

Re:Kickstarter Is Totally Disrupting Consumer Electronics, Probably By... on Monday April 16, 2012 @04:58AM (#3846587)

I would disagree with the post. Kickstarter doesnt change the field of consumer electronics at all. The products created would usually not have been made but for the pre-sale funding available.

I would also disagree that these items can even be considered consumer electronics, they are widgets at best and really destined for a large consumer market.

Kickstarter is a great platform but like the instagram sale recieves too much hype whenever something big goes up.
