Re:Jurassic Park computers in excruciating detail on Wednesday July 15, 2026 @09:31AM (#48920591)
I have found memories of my PowerBook 100. It was my first computer and everything was just magic back then. Made games and utilities with HyperCard back then. MOved to a LC630 afterward and that so so fast in comparison. I could finally play Marathon without waiting my turn in the LAN parties :D
Re:Apple introduces AppleCare One on Wednesday July 23, 2025 @10:09AM (#44659421)
I was half hoping that would be a press release saying that AppleCare would be bundled with the AppleOne plan... That would have been awesome, but otherwise I never used/needed AppleCare on anything so I guess I would pass.

And for what it is worth, the times I had to use Objective-C, it is a nice superset of C language that reads cleanly and is easy to grasp.

Rollbar Had a Data Breach

On September 6, 2023 at 8:28AM PDT, we identified an irregularity in our data warehouse query logs. We immediately performed an initial forensic analysis, determining what had occurred and conducting initial assessment of the impact. Our preliminary analysis established that a cloud platform service account which only had access to our data warehouse was used by an unauthorized party. When we...

Lego are just like those brick. If you just pile them on you have no strength, if you interlock them you have strength in one direction, if you have 2 rows interlocked, you have strength in 2 directions.

Ever built Lego?
Your turn VW Group.
Same parent company and same technology (the 2 is basically an XC/C-40 with a different body). Yes they will make the move, just need the announcement.

Does this means that only the newest version of the Apple TV 4K can run this? I have a old 4K, what does it mean for it?

For those mega cargo ships, why is civil nuclear power vessels are not a thing? Seems they would massively reduce the footprint while providing better clearner power.

Hum - I believe this is what the hand brake is for no? Do Ferraris not have hand brakes?
Polestar is doing the hybrid model too. online order, single price, single wait list and leveraging a set of volvo dealerships for delivery and maintenance. i think this is the perfect model.

Enzyme | Full Stack Software Engineer | Remote | Full-time | https://angel.co/l/2jWkTr

We’re building a software platform to handle the compliance aspects of running a drug or medical device company.

We are looking for a full-stack expert. You have taken multiple apps from conception to deployment, and have experience and opinions on the best technologies to use and why. You should be comfortable implementing new features from scratch, making changes to existing features and writing complex migrations on production data.

Re:France to Build Six New Nuclear Reactors on Thursday February 10, 2022 @04:04PM (#30292508)
It is EDF [1] which is a mostly state owned company. The state will finance the reactors and collect it back when they come online.

The MBA, 13inch MBP, the bigger imac and the mac min are all old designs that were updated with a M1 processor.

The 2022 update will bring a new industrial design on top of the new architecture. The same way the imac and the 14/16MBP were refreshed with a new design + a new architecture.

My predictions form each:

- MBA -> many colors, white screen/keyboard background (similar to imac)

- MBP 13 -> renamed MacBook, a MBA with more ports, no colors and black screen/keyboard

- iMac -> might be renamed imac pro, black screen and keyboard background. Same small footprint as the consumer imac

- mac mini -> the current mac min is pretty empty. I think we'll see something much more compact but really similar in design.

Re:Netflix’s Prices Are Rising Faster Than Cable on Monday January 17, 2022 @10:33AM (#29967548)
Actually most countries mandate a % of local content from Netflix. So they sponsor, buy, produce shows for that country and make it available to the world to expend the catalogue. That is quite nice for smaller director/producer to get access to a global crowd.

I remember a local movie (1) that became, almost over night, the most watched movie in Quebec's history with more than 21M viewer. Quebec population is ~8M.

Re:Business Essentials on Wednesday November 10, 2021 @10:35AM (#29175758)
I mean... I'd like to use that to manage my family's macs/iphone!
One better long term solution is to raise salaries. Raising the hourly wage will help fill in some employment.

Yes there are side effects to that (raising prices is one), but anything else is pushing a problem forward.

Sometimes it is better not to be too clever. I built a CRM like app for the construction industry and used "inc.construction" and "inc.services" as the app domain. So customer would have

<business-name>.inc.construction

I thought it was clever, but people do not understand them. Everything is .com in their mind.

> Intel 7nm is estimated to deliver around 200 to 250 million transistors per square millimetre

> TSMC reckons its 3nm node will pack in somewhere north of 250 million transistors per square millimetre of silicon

Why is a 3nm process would yield the same transistor density as a 7nm one? Is it an error in the article or there is something I do not understand?

Re:Netflix is creating a problem by cancelling TV shows too soon on Wednesday October 14, 2020 @09:28AM (#24776274)
To be honest your examples were aired on TV some time ago where the normal season was 24 episodes (about 40-45 min long for seasons like Lost) and a half season 10 or 12.

Most of the new shows are between 8 and 12 episodes about an hour long.

What will be the speed of the internet down and up link when fully operational? The video said 100Mbps at low latency. Do they expect more afterward?

Tuna auction is also using hand numbers like this https://youtu.be/H-eoIxfycf8?t=316

They also sometimes do the gestures with the hands under a sheet to do a silent auction. Pretty impressive.

That’s the new setting of the battery where the software fakes 100% at 90-80% of capacity based on the age and performance of the battery.

This can be turned off in the preferences.

Same goes for child car seats. Some manufacturer actually replace them for free last time I checked.
