MassChallenge | Chief Technology Officer | Boston, MA | HYBRID (2 days/week in office preferred) | Full-time | $180k-$200K + great benefits/WLB

Hi HN! I'm posting my own backfill, as I'm leaving MassChallenge. It's a hands-on Product/Tech leadership role: you'd own software engineering, data, AI, and IT.

MassChallenge is the Non-profit/no equity version of YC for mission driven companies. Comp is $180k-$200K with strong benefits and good work-life balance.

You'd inherit a great team, some room for headcount growth, and a solid near-term roadmap, with flexibility to shape it once you're in.

I'm not the hiring manager (this is my last week), but I may be involved in the interview process. Mention Hacker News when you apply. Current interview process: HR phone screen, technical screen, Exec team interview, CEO interview.

Isn't this what Frame.io does just without the markup tools? They have had camera to cloud for a while.

Storage, transmission and general adoption are some of the difficulties with solar adoption. I actually does not take a huge amount of space.

$40k for entry level is unfortunately not unusual in NYC for Q/A. You are not going to get a Q/A 'Engineer' at that rate but maybe someone who has a non-technical background who knows testing or a recent bootcamp grad looking for real world experience.

Re:Do the math on your stock options on Thursday December 31, 2015 @10:39AM (#10817986)
If you are considering a job that offers options/stock I think this is the most important thing to consider.

1. Do the founders have a history of successful exits? 2. If so, did all employees with stock get paid?

If either is no, you should consider options/stock worth $0

Re:Voice Quality on Smart Phones Still Sucks (2014) on Monday December 07, 2015 @11:40AM (#10690531)
Cell quality of GSM/CDMA or others isn't good but the article ignores all the Wi-fi calling, FaceTime Audio and VOIP type calls you can make on a smart phone now. I've found that those are substantially better quality than any landline or cell.
Re:Coding Interview Tips on Friday October 16, 2015 @02:24PM (#10401159)
Blindly hitting candidates with a test is rude. There was definitely a trend a few years ago where bigger name companies wouldn't even look at resumes. They would just send a test out to every candidate who applied.
