Re:Nevada approves regulations for self-driving cars on Thursday February 16, 2012 @06:04PM (#3601128)
You wouldn't buy a car, you'd just order a ride when you needed it, and the car would come pick you up. Think Zipcar
Re:Airbrake acquired by Exceptional on Tuesday February 07, 2012 @04:20PM (#3563678)
How will the acquisition affect the release of the much-needed javascript exception tracking upgrades?
Re:Google is FUBAR on Wednesday January 25, 2012 @11:31AM (#3510341)
Seems to me google search results are the same as ever, they just put a G+ widget on the side and Twitter and Facebook peeps are upset they weren't included so they're calling it "evil".
Re:Best approach for self-taught developer looking for job? on Friday November 04, 2011 @11:44PM (#3198840)
Use the same approach that works well for classically trained engineers:

Make something good, keep learning. Then show you are doing both of these.

Hired.

Re:Ridejoy (YC S11): Make Some Dough On Your Next Roadtrip on Friday October 28, 2011 @12:07PM (#3168831)
A handful of my friends used this to get rides to burning man. Worked like a charm, and really saved the day.
Re:Facebook Timeline on Thursday September 22, 2011 @02:24PM (#3027107)
This is a very nice thing to have, if it were detailed enough that I could scan it and reminisce.

But if it were that detailed, I wouldn't want it made public.

Can we timeline privately?

Re:Ask HN: What do people do with the code from failed startups? on Thursday September 22, 2011 @05:10AM (#3025404)
Make sure you learned from it while you were writing it. Then it never completely goes away.
Re:Facebook's "Listen w/ Friends" Feature is Coming Today on Thursday September 22, 2011 @05:09AM (#3025401)
Facebook's best bet at nailing social music today is to

- Be easy - Work well - Make people feel a connection between themselves and their friends, through the music they have in common.

Why return thoughts randomly?

We definitely are. =^]
Re:Google+ Notifications Chrome Extension on Thursday June 30, 2011 @07:16PM (#2716143)
In case these notifications and their related emails weren't able to distract you often enough.
Re:Open source remakes of games you're still loving on Thursday June 02, 2011 @05:34PM (#2614094)
They are... this by far the top reason to ever get an ipad.
Re:Open source remakes of games you're still loving on Wednesday June 01, 2011 @01:37PM (#2608349)
How would you feel about a Myst / Riven clone for touch devices?
Re:Google's Street View starts mapping India on Thursday May 26, 2011 @02:03PM (#2588765)
You know they developed self-driving cars for a reason, right?
Re:Achieving Goals Like a Mad Klingon on Friday April 29, 2011 @01:15PM (#2498116)
There's a RadioLab episode where they explore this type of self-discipline (among other things). When a woman wanted to finally quit smoking, she told her friend that if she ever smoked again, the friend should take $5,000 out of her bank account and give it to the KKK. She couldn't bear the thought of her money supporting that group, and she never smoked again.

Edit: Here's the episode http://www.radiolab.org/2011/mar/08/ It's really quite good, like most RadioLabs.

Re:Amazon Cloud Drive and Amazon Cloud Player on Tuesday March 29, 2011 @01:46AM (#2381535)
There's an "upload your own mp3's" feature. I think this means I can stop waiting for google music.

Except:

> You have 5.0 GB of Cloud Drive storage. Upload your entire music collection.

I don't think this is going to work...

Re:Killing Email: How and Why I Ditched My Inbox on Tuesday March 15, 2011 @02:15PM (#2328688)
Came here to post the same. The problem has more to do with how he uses online communication than with any particular tool.
Re:Like.fm (YC W11) Is A Social Network For Tracking Songs on Tuesday March 08, 2011 @06:18PM (#2303016)
Why all the custom extensions/tracking software, and emphasis on compatibility with the last.fm api when you could get the same data by just pulling from last.fm?

Data ownership, maybe, but it also felt like a very heavy onboarding process. "Welcome! Now install these two browser widgets and some desktop client..."

Oh, you're the guys who posted: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=2043422

Not what I was expecting from you, but this is pretty cool, too!

Been looking for something like this. Any way to browse by niche/tag/business model?

Me too.
Re:Favorite design books (Irene Au - Google Head of UX) on Thursday February 03, 2011 @09:14PM (#2178009)
I'm not sure what Au may or may not have been responsible for, but the Android tablet is the first time I've been wow'd by a Google UX. I'd be more interested in seeing Matias Duarte's picks.

Oh, and there's also wepay.com

Re:Mobile messes up the lean startup seed funding economics on Thursday November 25, 2010 @02:25AM (#1939605)
I think he means something like, "Why not build a simple webapp that prints out a users schedule, that they can view on any phone, and can save as an icon if their phone supports that (iphone)"

It solves the problem you're trying to solve, requires minimal effort and is cross platform.
