Re:Porsche 911: 52 years of staying true to its roots on Monday August 24, 2015 @11:12AM (#10110360)
This or any car related article/site/TV/Web show is native advertising (but not like Buzzfeed native advertising) because author probably in one camp. Some examples: Porsche, Ferrari, Muscle Car, European, American, Japanese, Modified, Old School Cars.... If you dont know the scene just dont comment like it's Buzzfeed piece!
Re:Porsche 911: 52 years of staying true to its roots on Monday August 24, 2015 @11:05AM (#10110310)
ARS Technica and Anandtech are BYTEs of our era. Some kind of balance btw hardcore and popular/easy-to-read. I never experienced that. Having said that..

I really couldnt get what you wanted to say! That title is true regardless of the piece is adv. or not. Still same sporty beefed up Beetle philosophy. So what??

So true. Some (increasingly rare) code does not translate into modern trends. actually it's more like craftmanship and LuaJIT is a craft. Just like Gigablast open source search engine.
does this contain fixes for things explained in https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10053420? i think listing what it does would be cool. because after that revealation disabling everything and anything still may not be enough.
Re:How RED Cameras Changed the Game on Friday August 14, 2015 @03:49AM (#10059052)
not a pro videographer. RED colors seems soft (under saturated). looks like they give RAW for intensive post-processing instead of mostly usable film output. on paper digital matches or exceeds film but real world output does not say so. For example Wolf of Wall Street looks very cool (shot on film).

I think filmmakers which make real money off films use film or some esoteric digital camera and for cost reduction (aerial shots very low-light shots wtc.) use things like RED.

Re:Manifold.js – Create mobile apps from websites on Tuesday May 05, 2015 @06:10AM (#9491711)
can i use just upload manifest generated by manifold and upload into adobe phonegap build service and get ready-apps for submitting to app stores?
Re:An introduction to JavaScript-based DDoS on Friday May 01, 2015 @03:53AM (#9470052)
i dont get the severity of this attack. for this attack to work you have to include a js from CDN that has been compromised. if you are using a high profile CDN then it would probably be learned sooner. in other case that's plain DDOS not necessarily a JS-based DDOS.
Re:Show HN: Caddy, a cross-platform HTTP/2 web server on Wednesday April 29, 2015 @03:10AM (#9456845)
asking to learn: what diff does openVZ make over other options?
Re:Firefox: The Next Mobile Platform on Wednesday April 01, 2015 @11:44AM (#9304462)
off-topic: flame phone are reasonably specced and priced. we just dont know anything about when we could "just" order an unlocked flame or a similar phone.

mid-range specced and priced phone would sell, i think, as second phone, phone for relatives and like.

Re:Firefox: The Next Mobile Platform on Wednesday April 01, 2015 @10:59AM (#9304122)
i assume u want to share ur experience but pre-2.0 ffos should be banned from review. couldnt u upgrade to v2.X and re-review?
Re:Periscope by Twitter on Thursday March 26, 2015 @01:44PM (#9271599)
Periscope for ESPN would be interesting. do the leageues allow that since you are essentially broadcasting the match/event?
Re:Inferno OS on Saturday December 27, 2014 @04:03AM (#8802125)
what could be the use case now for learning Limbo/Inferno? it says "distributed" but i couldnt see what it offers for distributed as in multi rack or even multi dc distributed. distributed as in distributed automatically to threads?
Re:MOOCs are closed platforms and probably doomed on Friday December 26, 2014 @06:20AM (#8798642)
one more point they're publicly funded. that should be at least motivator to open up
i reallt cant get where his comments are directed. is 6-core or 8-core marketing ARMs? very very high core count niche processors? then he says on the server side we already have it. what is that we have?

i dont know optimum number of cores in mobile cpus. when phone is in your pocket and not used very low power core can get phone going even with bg notifications.

Re:MDBM – High-speed database on Thursday December 11, 2014 @11:06AM (#8735483)
Off-topic: will you have something like networked KV store aka redis. what do you think of Redis or Cassandra?
Re:Jolla Tablet on Wednesday November 19, 2014 @11:29AM (#8630909)
i'm curious about why did they go to "third"? there is a very big third Firefox OS not including WP. i can understand an OS based on Android. i can understand contributing to Firefox even forking. it has some real support from telecoms, open development process. apart from being a regional product which can get away with 3rd party app stores i dont get this write-a-mobile-os-from scratch.
