Re:Deutsche Telekom is violating Net Neutrality on Sunday January 25, 2026 @09:43AM (#46754430)
Telemach is also funny in net-neutrality regard:

Article 7.2 of their terms of service https://telemach.si/download/terms/splosni-pogoji-poslovanja...

> Naročnik se obvezuje, da po priključitvi na omrežje izvajalca: > ... > * ne bo postavljal strežnikov na svoji lokaciji, razen v primeru sklenitve ustreznega dogovora z izvajalcem, > ...

It states that customers are bound not to setup servers on their internet connection point without prior aproval by the ISP. It sounds against the law to forbid this, albeit ianal.

Re:Deutsche Telekom is violating Net Neutrality on Sunday January 25, 2026 @07:15AM (#46753443)
Slovenian ISP T-2.net also violates local network neutrality laws here by requiring customers to pay extra to unblock some special TCP ports, like 25 and 53, meaning they block selfhosting email and dns servers without additional payment. I filed a complaint to the national regulator AKOS. They first responded with agreeing with me, but nothing was fixed for many months, and upon emailing the regulator again, I received a different response from another employee claiming that charging more for unblocking special applications is legal (it's not).

Yes, that is planned. As soon as we get more money (:

Our network router in our radio station started acting crazy at 22:00:40 Europe/Ljubljana time. Uptime monitoring via HTTPS reported downtime for 5 minutes, but our radio archive that records audio over LiveWire recorded some bitcrushing effects for 5 minues. Maybe our Mikrotik hEX was flipping some bits? Recording from the radio archive: https://splet.4a.si./dir/solar.mp3
I though my laptop monitor is broken for a second due to the dirty css background on this page.
Even if the software didn't support it, they could just make the song at 123 BPM and speed it up a tiny bit before releasing it.
do you mean single database? it'd be quite hard if not impossible to make applications using a single table (no relations). reddit did it though, they have a huge table of "things" iirc.
I doubt it. "hacker news" spelled lowercase? comma after "beauty"? missing "in" after "it's"? i doubt an LLM would make such syntax mistakes. it's just good writing, that's also possible these days.

By the time I read everything and pressed the back button only to be greeted by another hacker news page I felt like I just went back in time 10 years to a more plesant era.

unfortunate that you can't start it without the ethernet interface in UP state. if you start it while the ethernet cable is disconnected, it will start the daemon but not actually "listen" on the device, even after the cable gets plugged in.

my solution: create a bridge with your ethernet device and add a dummy device and UP the said summy device, thereby UPing the bridge.

too bad it doesn't use unix users and file permissions via pam and reinvents the wheel with their own accounts and permissions.

That's probably some sort of gate on your headphones that silences audio (by killing power to the amplifier circuitry) if it's below a threshold loudness level, to prevent users from hearing a hissing sound the cheap circuitry produces that is otherwise masked by other louder sounds. When gate opens again, it takes 1-2 seconds for the amplifier to power up completely.

You rarely got servicr manuals for free, ever. DIYers could however buy 3rd party service manuals, for example those made by https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haynes_Manual

If the battery is in the trunk on a BMW automatic, park the car in a garage backwards with the car nearly touching the wall with the trunk. Stop it (parking brake engages). Wait for the battery to break beyond the point of recharging it by letting the car sit still for some months. Congratulations, you've successfully soft locked your car. You can't open the trunk, because you can't move the car forward, because you can't put the car in neutral and release the parking brake, because you have no power.
Re:Hyundai Paywalls Brake Pads replacement on Ioniq 5 N on Sunday November 16, 2025 @08:34AM (#45945031)
On my peugeot 5008, pressing the electronic parkong brake button for more than cca 500ms while driving fully engages all brakes of the car (not only rear ones), but ABS remains functional. So in an emergency, one could theoretically still use this as an emergency brake. Although I agree that it's quite dumb, because it of course wouldn't work in case of computer/electric failure. What a shame indeed.

This needs to be implemented in Firefox ASAP. Although this would require firefox to gain support for IMAP.
Where are those files stored on my phone? I want to check this for my ISP. Edit: git clone https://android.googlesource.com/platform/packages/apps/Carr... && cd CarrierConfig && grep -rnie inflate

I agree that HTTPS is not needed in most cases but ACME challenge to obtain a LE cert can be done securely:

* domain has DNSSEC * domain has CAA records only allowing DNS challenge and disallowing insecure HTTP challenge

but if we rely on DNSSEC we can just use DANE/TLSA and don't need the mess of CA/PKI

Until you start heavily relying on your archive software you use that is accessible over HTTP with links hardcoded in messages. Then you're bound to continue using that software.
