Re:Mark Zuckerberg: "Ship the App" on Saturday September 28, 2024 @04:49PM (#41682882)
I believe this is the app they were talking about. So after this email it still took some 8 months to ship Facebook Camera https://about.fb.com/news/2012/05/introducing-facebook-camer...
Re:Airbnb's Devastating Effect on Canadian Housing on Friday March 08, 2024 @01:05PM (#39643877)
where did you get this 50,000 housing units number from? This article quotes that New York got 15,000 units from their ban. Are you saying that Montreal has 3x as many short term rentals as New York?

Re:Costs of running a macOS app studio business on Sunday December 24, 2023 @03:41PM (#38756638)
Yeah. Was surprised to see him complain about a 15% business / income tax.
Re:Git Integration on Thursday March 13, 2014 @01:47PM (#7393388)
It would be fitting to have an equivalent of Fugitive's :Gbrowse to see a file on github and :Gblame to see the blame inline. Never understood why would your editor should be aware of git until I used that.
Re:Google’s New Private Ferry Won’t Defuse Tension Over Buses on Wednesday January 08, 2014 @07:53PM (#7028015)
This refers to the Google buses using the bus stops which are usually reserved to the Muni buses only.
Re:The Future of AngularJS on Friday September 27, 2013 @12:37PM (#6457853)
Now whenever I see The Future of <something>, I asume such thing is getting killed.

Same for Mexico.
Re:Ask HN: Are you alone in San Francisco on Thanksgiving? on Thursday November 22, 2012 @04:13PM (#4820013)
This is beautiful.

I had a short gig in SF earlier this year and finding this kindness would have definitely helped me make my stay there a more enjoyable experience.

Abrazos from Mexico City.

Re:Stripe Button (beta) on Tuesday October 09, 2012 @05:45PM (#4634122)
With a growing startup ecosystem (500 startups being officially here, for example) and very few payment solutions (for example, Paypal only offering Payments Standard), I thought I'd just drop in to inquire about Mexico on the short list for expansion.
Glad to see this coming to SF. It's one of the things that I miss the most from Mexico City, where the EcoBici (http://thecityfix.com/blog/mexico-city-launches-ecobici-bike...) program its one of the best ways to get around on the upscale neighborhoods.
Re:500 Startups Snaps Up LatAm Startup Accelerator Mexican.VC on Tuesday August 07, 2012 @02:59PM (#4351666)
With a Startup Weekend happening every 2 weeks, Startup Bus sending 3 buses next year, a vibrant ecosystem, and now official 500startups presence, can we officially say Mexico is happening?
This hack takes on two products I love. On one side, last.fm which needs support from the player to send the correct data to the server, on the other Soundhound/Shazam which go with you but are impossible to have running permanently.

The only downside I can think of is that my playlist would become cluttered with Let The Bodies Hit The Floor whenever I start spending too much time on Youtube

Re:The Gloves Are Officially Off: Google Vs. Apple on Thursday May 20, 2010 @04:03PM (#1365139)
Vic ended up pretty badly too with Conan O' Brien
Re:Steve Jobs' Prescience (Or: Who Wants A Stylus?) on Thursday May 13, 2010 @02:34PM (#1345170)
Still the user would have to learn a new way to write. Not great especially when you consider that things such as Dvorak have failed to get traction.
Did you test about asking the people to enter the date as ISO yyyy-mm-dd ? I'm not raised in the US and am usually confused of the meaning of some dates, however stating the year first makes it always understandable.
Re:PHP Fat Free Framework aka F3 on Monday March 22, 2010 @03:04AM (#1209682)

Re:Java, Postgres developer job. Location? The South Pole on Monday January 18, 2010 @05:03PM (#1060937)
I wonder what they use in the North Pole
Yeah, but I find notebooks to be in the same category as mobile phones where you don't get anything but bulkiness in return for your time. You might get a better use for your time building your own servers and workstations.
Why would you want to?
Would be glad to hear an alternative. I havent been able to find a payment processor for Mexico.
Re:LG’s Java ME on Android on Friday November 27, 2009 @01:10PM (#964178)
The only Java ME I really use are Opera Mini and Gmail. And you could argue there are better apps for that functionality on stock Android.
Weird, I had just convinced my boss to use Spring Roo, because of the productivity, and this seems to be more productive
Re:Apple Pulls the Plug Completely on ZFS on Friday October 23, 2009 @05:11PM (#899626)
Don't know, Gruber mentions something about ZFS being now related to Oracle as a bad thing, and the ties of btrfs and Oracle may do this another no-go from legal
Re:Apple Announces Major Consumer PC Upgrades on Tuesday October 20, 2009 @12:42PM (#892691)
Does the new MacBook sport the Mini-DisplayPort? Can't tell from the images
Honest question: how are these products better than, for example redmine and MediaWiki, if using them for personal/small team purposes?
Re:Ask HN: What source code is worth studying? on Tuesday October 13, 2009 @12:21PM (#879400)
I learnt a lot by using frameworks as symfony. The initial learning curve is steep, but then you can understand architecture better. The jump to other languages such as python and java was really easy after that.
Re:Ask HN: What source code is worth studying? on Tuesday October 13, 2009 @10:59AM (#879205)
Anyone willing to recommend a Java project worth studying?
Re:Anyone else on Google Wave? on Friday October 09, 2009 @01:26PM (#871957)
That kind of comments makes everyone of us who hasn't gotten one yet just jealous
Re:VirtualBox 3.0 Released on Tuesday June 30, 2009 @12:25PM (#681011)
