Tableau Software - Palo Alto and Seattle

Helping people see and understand their data.

Tableau Software is growing like crazy and looking for talent: front end, back end, mobile; developers and managers. If you can name a software challenge, we are addressing it to solve our customers' problems.

We are the fastest growing BI software company, and headed to being the fastest growing enterprise software company...but we're really doing that by being an any-knowledge-worker software company in disguise. Better yet, we are an open, collaborative, fast-growing software company with a data visualization product people describe using the words "fast, easy, beautiful."

This is a great company. I started there earlier this year. The development team is top notch, the sales team knows how to treat customers, and HR knows how to take care of us.

Contact me directly and I'll help make sure your resume ends up in the right place. (For better or worse, we're growing so fast that our hiring folks can't always keep up. I was dinged for this last time I posted and I want to make sure it doesn't happen to you.)

No remote.

Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (November 2014) on Sunday November 02, 2014 @05:49PM (#8548426)
Sorry to hear about this, please feel free to contact me directly.

If you have ever contacted Tableau regarding employment and didn't hear back, please let me know (even if you are no longer interested in us). We are growing fast but that's no excuse. I'm a developer, not a recruiter, but I will take personal responsibility to follow through on issues like this.

The best way to apply for a job at Tableau is via the careers web page (mentioned above), rather than calling or emailing. If you want to make a connection with someone inside the company, you can mail me (the email address in my profile is "spam-protected" but it should get through).

Re:Jobs for Older Developers on Wednesday March 12, 2014 @11:40AM (#7386242)
One theme was that there are older developers who are still working and doing what they love. Of course there are also plenty who have gone into different directions.

Jobs for Older Developers

After the vigorous discussion "Ask HN: What happens to older developers?" (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=7372997), this is an experiment to see if there are companies that are willing and interested in hiring older developers.(This is not intended to be a discussion about age discrimination.)If your company is will to hire techies of any age, please post the information below (ala "Ask...

Re:Ask HN: Open source an abandoned Mac app for mockups? on Saturday February 15, 2014 @06:45PM (#7246007)
Am I the only one who thinks this looks like Balsamiq? http://balsamiq.com/products/mockups/
Take a look at MailStore Home for offline backup. The personal version is free. http://www.mailstore.com/en/mailstore-home.aspx

It can work with a variety of mail sources, including gmail. It also builds a full text index so that you can search offline.

I have no affiliation with the company but I am using it to backup my gmail.

your colors (grays and reds) don't work for me and they are distracting. lighten up!
Re:Ask HN: Review DocumentCloud.org on Wednesday January 26, 2011 @09:10PM (#2146272)
Don't mean to be harsh, but I believe that many people won't have any idea how to open a doc. I'd be willing to help work on an alternative a better design if the aforementioned approach won't work.

It's common to use checkboxes to allow users to select items instead of opening items. You really need to fix this ASAP; it's nice that you want to accommodate power users, but you've essentially made the site useless to everyone else.

The new house is in Midtown, the Facebook house is not.
