News for hackers. Stuff that matters.

Definitely. I'm not even that senior and I'm interested.
Do people that have escaped still read hacker news?
Shouldn't it be "advertisers are targeting rightwing Facebook users with..."? I was under the impression that it was the advertiser who chooses the target audience.
GPU mining. You should be able to burn through that in a few hours.
Anyone know if this is still relevant? It was posted in 2013.
This is the right answer and definitely what the OP should do, but it isn't a "hardware virtualization" the way the original question was asked, IMHO. Still, totally the way to go for what the OP asked; great answer.
Re:Ask HN: Why no hardware virtualisation of a dual OS boot? on Wednesday July 18, 2018 @08:24PM (#17563157)
Accessing all of the hardware simultaneously from both systems without conflicts would prove to be a big challenge (there is more than just CPU and RAM on a box). Effectively you'd have to implement a complex mechanism or resource sharing and a way to manage it. Such a thing already exists: it is called a hypervisor.
Re:Ask HN: Who is hiring? (March 2018) on Thursday March 01, 2018 @07:58PM (#16497934)
That is an excellent job description page. I'm not interested in applying, but I'd love to steal^H^H^H^H^Hcopy the page for the next time I'm hiring someone!
Re:Ask HN: What's the story behind Bruce Schneier and squids? on Friday December 01, 2017 @09:42PM (#15829799)
One theory is that it is his way of signaling. (source: https://www.quora.com/Whats-with-Bruce-Schneier-and-squids)

My guess is that he just likes squids, and it is sometimes it is important to step back and do something that isn't super-serious once in a while.
