Totally agree. It sounds like he was all over the place, and using mass transportation. If anyone needs to seek refuge out on Long Island just let me know!! :D

I don't see your email address on your profile, mine is jbarrec(at)gmail(dot)com
I live local and would likely be interested in attending. I wasn't aware of this hackathon. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you for taking the time to write this inspiring post!
I will be arriving on Wednesday (commuting from Long Island). We should get a group to meet up before the event!
Are you attending startup school? I will be heading to Penn Station in the early morning / early afternoon. I am a marketing/business/developer hybrid from Long Island. Always looking to network!

I am working on a mobile web app that needs to pair random users together. For example, user 1 will let the app know they are looking for someone to be matched up with, and when user 2 goes to look for someone they should be matched. What is this process referred to as, and where can I read more information? :)Thank you for taking the time to read this!
Where in NY are you? I'm on Long Island.

I am working on a newfangled messaging app and am curious how many users I need before I can consider my concept proven?I think this information would be helpful to other HN members as well!
Ruby on Rails or Django. I am torn on which to move forward with. Suggestions are welcome!

If you are just looking for an affiliate tracking system:
http://www.hasoffers.com and
http://www.offerit.com are very cheap solutions that should be able to do everything you need.
If you are looking to add your "offer" to an existing affiliate network with an existing publisher base then you should look into Commission Junction, Clickbank, LinkShare, ShareASale, etc. Many networks specialize in different verticals. Be sure to do your research.
I won't be in Manhattan this Friday but I live on Long Island. It would be nice to coordinate a HN meetup though!
I read, and upvote the deserving posts.
I am pretty familiar with web development but where I seem to be getting lost is in the MVC frameworks such as RoR, Angular, etc. I'll check out this tutorial right now!
Readability is the primary reason I have fallen in love with Python. I will look into Flask and Django!
Thank you for sharing! Is there a quick way to identify what sites are running Python? (view source, etc.)
Are there any sites that come to mind that are using Python in the valley? I would love to check them out!
I am from New York and I really don't hear people talk about Python much. For the short amount of time I've been using Python it has made me want to ditch PHP.
Good question. Task => web development.

Which language do you prefer and why?*Python or PHP?* I am not trying to start a language flame war here. Just trying to see how everyone feels and what their reason is for using their language of choice. I have been using PHP on and off for years but recently learned Python and am curious if it's worth knowing one over the other.
How many monthly active users do you have? Is it currently being monetized?
It's only useful for prototyping or testing code in my opinion. I would never suggest hosting a live site on a service like this!
http://www.brace.io offers this but also has a separate staging environment which is very useful!
Thanks for the reply and link soneca. I will check it out right now! Is there a rule of thumb regarding how many questions to stick to once you have the local business owners attention? Do they tend to get annoyed after asking so many questions?

Good morning HN,I am in the early stages of researching a potential start up concept for local restaurant owners. What do you think is the best / most efficient way of going about this? Ideally I would like to obtain email addresses and reach out so I can scale quicker than cold calling for example.Any insight would be much appreciated!
What/Where is start-up weekend? It sounds like something I'm interested in!!
