Re:Ask HN: What are you working on (August 2024)? on Sunday August 25, 2024 @03:39PM (#41350564)
This is great, I'm currently studying for Security+ and will be using this. Where are the practice questions from?

Thank you!

Re:Any programmers here also play instruments? on Wednesday June 19, 2024 @05:57PM (#40732835)
Trombone! I joined a couple of community bands and they are always something to look forward to
Seems cool! Was getting into WebRTC last year and this would have helped a lot. Is the pricing for this available yet?

I usually look for duplicate issues that aren’t being addressed, or if there’s just a lot of seemingly non-trivial ones that go unanswered
Re:Ask HN: Best resources on starting a lifestyle business? on Sunday February 18, 2024 @03:17PM (#39422711)
Big fan of your articles! I have a few bookmarked that I like to read every now and then
Re:Show HN: I made a guitar solo improvisation app on Thursday January 11, 2024 @06:13PM (#38960902)
Looks cool, did you compose the backing tracks yourself?
That’s what made it easier for me. I would be that drive-by user in discord or searching for “Good First Issue” without even being remotely interested in the project. Now I try to focus on using it first. It was mostly an ego thing I had to move past
Ansible caught my interest! I setup a dev server and have been wondering about using Ansible to install my development dependencies on a new OS
Re:Ask HN: What other good forums are out there? on Friday December 08, 2023 @01:26PM (#38572371)
That forum was a godsend and really supportive when I converted my prerunner to 4wd!
Re:Ask HN: What other good forums are out there? on Friday December 08, 2023 @01:24PM (#38572332)
Car forums don’t help either when most answers are “use the search function”. Which I understand, but some things have changed and/or people have learned better since the early 2000’s when those questions were originally asked :)
Re:Ask HN: Where do you find community outside of work? on Thursday December 07, 2023 @12:37PM (#38559289)
I joined a community college concert band playing trombone. I’ve since started playing in other groups as a result of that
Re:Ask HN: What have you used a RaspberryPI/Arduino for? on Tuesday November 28, 2023 @11:02PM (#38455414)
College senior project - 3dof robotic arm on a vertical gantry system attached to a hydroponic garden. We used 2 arduino’s to control the lighting and gantry. Then one pi onboard the robot for imaging and another for a web user interface.
Re:Ask HN: Where can an HS student find work in tech? on Tuesday November 21, 2023 @02:33PM (#38368772)
In my area there are local business organizations (chamber of commerces, etc.) that help students connect with employers. Smaller shops appreciate a motivated young person hand-delivering a resume. I got my first job that way!
Re:How to Write a Cold Email on Friday November 17, 2023 @03:39AM (#38300994)
I’d be hard pressed to open a cold emailed PDF. Out of curiosity does anyone have a good way to inspect them prior to downloading?
Your first point is interesting. I’ve been meaning to explore some of these options lately (llama.cpp). I’m a bit too smooth brained to build a good business offering around that.

Great story and congrats! Thank you for posting, I hope I can get your help in the near future for a few projects!
I recently picked up react native, though I had a good amount of experience with React already and much of it is similar. Except for working with the file system and tooling.

One good boilerplate I’d recommend having a look at is https://github.com/infinitered/ignite not a course but possibly a good resource to learn from.

Thank you! That is helpful to know.
Can an S corp be single member? What are the drawbacks to using an S corp as opposed to an LLC?
Those little trucks with long beds are awesome. On a related note, people here in Hawaii have been importing Japanese kei trucks like crazy!

I enjoy it because it introduced me to Postgres, which coming from firebase and NoSQL was refreshing
Re:Ask HN: Python’s Prospects in a Copiloted World on Tuesday March 28, 2023 @12:37PM (#35343822)
Anecdotally, using GPT-4 with Typescript has made its code output much cleaner.
Happen to have a write up on this? It sounds really cool. I’m in the process of retiring old machines for a client and I was thinking of doing that.
