"Why have a 160 IQ do my taxes when a 120 IQ is enough"

This is an asinine argument. (Not to mention a complete goalpoast shift to what I was responding to)

> We're starting to see diminishing returns on their capabilities

How many more years are you people going to erroneously claim this? So ridiculous.

Climate change has many clean solutions lol. Just none that anyone gives a fuck about enacting. We'll deal with it post singularity (if we even care then)
A whole lotta words just to say you are coping.
It's more collaboration than what was happening before, if all you care about is the knowledge, not the accolades.
Re:Physicists trap a single antimatter particle for a month on Saturday October 24, 2026 @07:31AM (#50220270)
It's definitely just jokes due to using the word 'trap'. You might need to get some sleep lol
Re:It's still OK to enjoy programming on Monday October 19, 2026 @10:54PM (#50160806)
Honestly pretty weird of you to not vibe code it, if it was recently. I strive to be efficient and effective even in my hobbies. It makes them funner. Hence I don't use a screwdriver where a drill will do. Nor do I hand-sand large flat surfaces when I can use my DeWalt sander. Cry me a river of lament at the art of being bad at your hobbies.
Sir, we are discussing feelings and anecdotes here. Please be respectful of those
Isn't it constantly annoying that your take (that I agree with and is obviously correct) will always seem fringe?

You'll be branded as believing in the illuminati and a conspiracy theorist for pointing out the horribly obvious fact that money runs US politics and your vote literally doesn't matter with lobbyists and a revolving door in congress.

Intelligent people think this way. It's quite sad.

okay? and Obama? and Biden? why are you pointing back 30 years ago for this argument I wonder?
Thanks I agree its very relevant to a lot of things too especially societal/political paradigms that will never end without a gigantic shift that is AI. Glad you can see through the noise and understand that too

Show HN: swe-mux – A terminal multiplexer for coding agents optimized for mobile

https://github.com/jatoran/swe-mux

I run a lot of coding agents at once, mostly Claude Code, Codex and pi, across several projects. I got tired of having so many windows open, of agents leaving hung processes behind, of tracking which one needed input, and of having to remote into my desktop or SSH into a single shell to manage them from my phone. Even then, a terminal on a phone couldn't show me the frontend or output I needed...

These takes are fully fueled by cope. What is this plateau you are talking about? Any user of agentic coding tools sure isn't experiencing anything close to a plateau.
Re:Google's Open Agentic Orchestrator on Monday September 21, 2026 @03:08AM (#49783979)
Fully agreed. Google just can't stop losing.
Re:A warning about 'model welfare' on Friday September 18, 2026 @12:05AM (#49750071)
exactly. such over-reduction is just intellectually dishonest and generally a sign of some coping imo.
Re:A warning about 'model welfare' on Thursday September 17, 2026 @11:22PM (#49749871)
theories like this seem like grasping at straws to over explain a phenomenon we don't fully understand. it places consciousness on a pedestal. it's religious thinking.
Re:The DeepMind Institute on Thursday September 17, 2026 @11:15PM (#49749831)
what happens in the end was my entire point, and the refutation of your point. wtf? writing things down is a superior form of information retention and accuracy than verbal recitation and memory, obviously.
Re:Astra for Law on Thursday September 17, 2026 @05:30PM (#49746832)
Do you really think the law isn't already horribly abused? Democratization of law has been needed for a thousand years.
Re:The DeepMind Institute on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @05:58PM (#49733620)
ever heard of the game "telephone"?
Re:The DeepMind Institute on Wednesday September 16, 2026 @05:56PM (#49733596)
"these are actual research papers."

Not in any sense of that term are these research papers. Not lazy, sure, but a couple conceptual tables does not a research paper make.

"I’m broadly skeptical that floating-point operations can be conscious"

Why?

The new era of ads is this comment right here.

", but eventually you need to sell things for at least what it costs to make them."

Gmail, and every other free service would like a word. Net tangential profit invalidates your point. They can loss lead LLM's forever if they are getting other economic benefit from the practice

Re:GPT-6 built this earth exploration site in 5 prompts on Friday September 11, 2026 @06:35PM (#49666321)
Do you have any basis for this collection of claims? I've never heard of this intentional obfuscation.
Re:Ask HN: Can we please limit the AI news flood? on Friday September 11, 2026 @10:03AM (#49658613)
Thankfully due to AI, it is an extremely simple matter to set up your own HN feed and filter it absolutely however you want
Re:I resigned from Anthropic today on Tuesday September 08, 2026 @10:32PM (#49620109)
Imagine being front and center to the development of a major revolutionary tech.. and ur solution to it being too dangerous is to not be involved.. so a. your ability to steer it safely is killed b. the % of people invovled in it that care about its risks is reduced

great. if you're right. you made huamnity's situation much worse.

if you're wrong, then you're an idiot and wrong.

weird. its almost like.... that cannot possibly be the reason they left :)

Re:The jobs apocalypse is postponed. An AI jobs boom is here on Monday September 07, 2026 @10:16AM (#49598734)
Well one way to look at it is:

As a programmer, but working in two non-SWE roles, I have turned job A 70% over to AI, and job B 90%.

Where systems and scaffolds can be put in place to manage various aspects of a job, would this not be considered, partially, an "AI job"?

If you work in government grants and R&D, what if agents can now triage 100-1000x the opportunity count that you could ever handle alone, and you had a pipeline system in place to manage said opportunities and relationships? And then you, as the human, become the mouthpiece and reviewer of hoards of filtered output? Is that Federal Grants & R&D position now not mostly an AI job?

I'd say a large percentage of digital-based jobs can be considered varying percentages of AI jobs.

Too bad EU anti-AI laws had real quick enforcement, cementing EU as colonies of US and China for all eternity
Re:IBM Bob on Friday September 04, 2026 @10:34PM (#49572551)
easy.

"claude, get this c++ program working"

these types of moats are all but obliterated.

Re:IBM Bob on Friday September 04, 2026 @10:32PM (#49572539)
When people say they have been in startups for long periods, does this mean they worked at a chain of failed companies?
