NotionApps is a no-code tool to build apps & portals from Notion databases. 2024 was a great year for our tool and I would love to share our journey (to 100++ paying businesses) here along with how 2025 would be an even bigger year for us.

Hope you like what I've shared.

Sameer and Jatin here. We are building NotionApps, a no-code tool to create apps, portals, & forms from Notion databases. With the tool, you can: - restrict your data behind an email auth - show only limited data based on logged-in user - share Notion data outside of your organization without adding people to your workspace - handle large databases with ease - create mobile friendly apps to...

To Copilot or not to Copilot?

My feelings about Github Copilot have evolved as the product has gone through its various stages. I wanted to voice some of my frustrations and offer some suggestions of how to make it better.

Re:People who use Notion to plan their whole lives on Wednesday April 26, 2023 @04:10AM (#35710757)
Great article! I absolutely love Notion and use it to track my tasks and create a second brain for myself. Notion is a beast for personal productivity. However, I think a lot more businesses have started using Notion to manage their products. When I talked to some of these businesses, I came across some common issues with Notion databases which pushed me to build NotionApps (https://www.notionapps.com), a tool to create apps on top of Notion databases. These are the problems I'm looking to solve: - Better user experience when using Notion databases on mobile - Notion is slow to use with large databases - Missing granular permissions when sharing data with others - Ability to share internal data with external users
Re:Row-level database permissions on NotionApps on Wednesday April 26, 2023 @03:53AM (#35710657)
When we started building NotionApps, we saw a constant problem across the Notion communities about the need to limit the visibility to rows based on the logged-in user. For example, in a Task management application, the logged-in user should be able to see only the tasks assigned to them.

We are trying to solve this through database permissions on NotionApps.

NotionApps (www.notionapps.com) is a tool to build mobile apps from Notion databases without any coding. For those familiar with no-code, our tool can be likened to what Appsheet/Glide is to Google Sheets or Stacker/Softr to Airtable. Our beta is live, in this version you can build view-only public apps. We are adding new features every week with the goal to provide the best app-building experience on Notion.
Re:Ask HN: How are you using GPT to be productive? on Saturday March 25, 2023 @02:31AM (#35300062)
I am using it to write documentation for the product that I'm building. It's an app builder and requires extensive documentation. I spit out thoughts on to ChatGPT and ask it to structure those thoughts into a structure and complete sentences. It would take me 3x time to structure it myself. But I wonder if this means I'm getting lazy?
Re:Why Engineers Need to Write on Saturday March 25, 2023 @02:28AM (#35300050)
Great article! Couldn't agree more! I too have realized that when communicating in the async era, more clarity in writing leads to less wasted time. I re-read my messages when sending them to someone to ensure they are clear.
