Many years ago, "8088 Domination" demonstrated full motion video on the original 1981 IBM personal computer:
https://trixter.oldskool.org/2014/06/19/8088-domination-post...
As it turns out, the video was encoded in such a way that it could be played back using the display bandwidth of the original PC, BUT doing that encoding required a modern computer to perform in a reasonable amount of time.
It's not hard; but often the TV will nag and nag until it gets a wifi connection.
And with how hard these manufacturers are trying, I wouldn't be at all surprised if they start including some alternate data connection for metadata/DRM/whatever. (ie, not the primary streaming data connection)
Riiiiiight. That sounds like something spooks would say to throw you off the trail...... :-) /s
Last time I looked into it, you CAN bypass the rqlite raft layer, and hit the local sqlite directly, but you are not guaranteed consistency. Depending on your use case, that may be okay.
We still have public libraries. They usually have a pretty sizable collection
The tools to "knock over" a software system are easy to download and come by, but do require some skill.
On the other hand, "You wouldn't download a wrecking ball?"
> It's fortunate that the steps required here aren't particularly complicated for the devices you can update, and the advice essentially boils down to 'update them'. The problem is the devices you can't update or update easily.
> Update everything that ships a CA bundle: your OS ca-certificates package, certifi, Node, Homebrew, and rebuild your container images once the base images pick up the change.
> Devices you can't update are the hard part. Routers, printers, TVs, appliances with frozen firmware will trust these certificates until expiry, which is July 2039...
Quick -- we need to MITM all the smart TVs so they can be jailbroken in one fell swoop!
I suspect that's a problem both with human read/written code, and LLM written code -- larger features should be chunked up into more manageable to understand and reason about functions, and assembled at higher levels.
Guiding the LLM (or humans structuring/guiding juniors) to shape the abstractions help make the overall feature and reliability of the code much better.
Perl folks dealt with that for years too :)
I had read somewhere that Kubernetes is like a Tamagotchi for operations teams.
... and while searching for where I found that quote, it seems someone vibecoded that metaphor literally: https://github.com/Yscale-sh/Kubagachi
How do you wire up Claude to listen in to your SDR?
Interesting related question -- I recently inherited several WiFI AP/Routers that are openwrt or DDWRT compatible. Are there any packages that folks are working on, or know of that can centrally manage a fleet of them?
If there wasn't, I was going to use this as a project to explore vibecoding...
Did you like Myst? That was the complete opposite end of the spectrum.
Title screen video gives a vague story. Game starts. No dialog. No text. Just ... clicking and discovering the rest of the story.
It's a loyalty test. And he's given his supporters permission to classify anyone who doesn't follow along as 'the enemy' aka 'the other'. It's a shortcut so his supporters know they don't have to give any credence to anything else they say, since now they assign all the other labels and insults he's hurled at 'his enemies' to the person they are talking to.
Some people read music on an ebook display -- having a foot pedal to advance the page while your playing is a relatively common thing.
> Pi can explain its own features and look up its docs. Ask it how to use or extend Pi.
That line is in the startup message everytime...
https://github.com/F5OEO/rpitxYou don't need much to spam random RF energy into the air. That project just flips a GPIO pin at the right frequency, and gets a signal into the air.
It won't be very powerful, and the harmonics will probably bleed all over the place if you just hang a wire off of it with no filters.....
Evaporation losses will move the water to a different locality. DC's not only cool servers, but control humidity by adding or removing water to the air.
Warm water fed back into the ecosystem will (relatively) quickly cause unwanted changes to the lake's biosphere.
Unless it's properly filtered, returned water will be contaminated by material in the cooling system.
It puts local demand on the water system competing with human need.
IIRC Congress was blocking anything Biden or the opposing party wanted to put in place that they had the power to block, and refusing any compromise.
They are a nuisance when you drive by a car using them while you're tuned to the local college stations, and suddenly you're hearing one side of someone's phone conversation, or some other music.
I drive by a VZ pedestal that has had it's service doors wide open for about 3 weeks.
The punchline is that it's about 2000 ft from the local CO, where (I believe) half the town's lines terminate.
Now that you mention it, I'm pretty sure I recall a hand-painted "Skydiving" sign at some small rural airport...
If folks do this; I'd love for them to also be in the habit of shipping their prompts + harness configuration too. If we are moving to another code abstraction, then that becomes the source code to modify, adapt and extend.
I mean -- compilers used to annoy developers who knew how to hand-roll machine code, with bad outputs and inefficient algorithms, till the compilers got better than most of them...
I'm not qualified to say yes or no; but I will say that Apple's tends to make design decisions that try to empower the user as much as they can while still being easy to use, and have more or less maintained that position.where as Google, on the other hand, started as "open" and "you can do it all on our platform" to "we're taking away your control and choice little by little, in order to 'protect' you". Oh, and you hear more about Google perma-banning your account for no clear reasons, than Apple...
Yet, the Apple + Google implementations will sync passkeys between your devices. "Securely", of course. (I've seen first hand how Apple implements this, and it seems.... sound)
Sites can request hardware-bound tokens, which would block any software based password managers. It's an option in the protocol but one not yet widely utilized.
Find the telematic's antenna, and put a 50ohm resistor across it. It can scream into it's own private void.
IANAL, but a harmed party outside of the 'binding arbitration' nonsense might be a way work around arbitration and drag the company into a court.
They will interpret that metric as "they don't love AI YET,so lets throw more at them so they can see how wonderful it is" .....
