Re:WebObjects Overview (2001) [pdf] on Sunday June 11, 2023 @04:19PM (#36285194)
I worked at a university and we used WedObjects for a lot of project. I still believe that it could be around today and competing with the best "stacks" available. Limiting factors would be price and deployment options.

But alas, it wasn't viewed in the light by everyone and other "stacks" became more popular.

Re:Ask HN: Are you still doing Intermittent Fasting? on Wednesday April 05, 2023 @01:23PM (#35457526)
May I suggest using Celtic sea salt instead of iodized or Himalayan? It really helps with absorbing the water into mucus membranes. It also has a bunch of other special properties.

I don’t understand why either. I simply answered a question with my routine.
Re:Ask HN: Are you still doing Intermittent Fasting? on Tuesday April 04, 2023 @02:31PM (#35444026)
What is your diet like when you come out of fasting? Are you refeeding for a few days and restoring electrolytes before you go for a heavy meal?
Re:Ask HN: Are you still doing Intermittent Fasting? on Tuesday April 04, 2023 @02:30PM (#35444009)
Yes. I intermittent fast every day from 2pm until noon. I allow myself a 2 hour eating window per day. This 2 hours involved me eating a decent amount of a mostly raw vegan diet. I do still cook sweet potatoes, rice and broccoli. I also eat beans and some nuts. I drink 32oz lemon water and 32oz of celery juice each AM.

I fast for 2-3 weeks quarterly. Water only.

When I am sick for any reason I start fasting immediately.

What has this done for me? My weight is finally where it should be from decades of abuse. Autoimmune conditions and diabetes are under control.

I posted a while back that my sleep was about 2-4 hours nightly. Over the last 5 or so months that has increased to 6 hours a night.

Edit: I drink at least 1 gallon of water per day.

TBH, I love my remarkable 2 and jumped on ordering the Type Folio.

As the other of a once popular text editor. I have been writing a new generation editor. Perhaps we could talk about important features and design ideas together and each use one another as a sounding board?
Re:Ask HN: What's the best lecture series you've ever seen? on Wednesday February 01, 2023 @03:22PM (#34617032)
Pema Chodron did a 4 lecture series on Buddhism. I found what I learned to be extremely beneficial in shaping my life and how I raise kids.

Agreed. One member of my family was "misdiagnosed" and they didn't catch the cancer until it was Stage 4. My beloved grandfather died within months of the diagnosis once it was finally made. He was my "person".

my screen time on my phone is less than 45 mins each day.

I use an iPad also but I don't have any social media apps, etc loaded. Its very strictly used for classwork, research, assignments, etc.
