They're random from the entire set. There's only about 90 posts at the time of writing. I did disable a few... somebody was very keen to express their love for genitalia lol

What device do you have? The animations are kind of resource intensive. There are some performance optimisations if the frame rate drops but perhaps it needs to go further

That's a great idea. If it gets no traction, I'll be in touch. If it does, I might still ask you for some help...

If we had access to the same question being asked at different times through history, I bet the answers wouldn't be so different.

Show HN: A living wall of life goals and deathbed regrets

Answer the question "Before I die, I want to..." and post it to the wall.I built this as part of a journaling app I’m working on as a side project. Personally I find life goals fascinating - they're the things we think will make us feel the happiest and the most fulfilled, yet often people think they won't achieve them.I have tried to make it feel atmospheric with the goal of making you stop...

Re:Ask HN: Why does every website ask me to accept cookies? on Thursday October 02, 2025 @05:36AM (#45447746)
There should definitely be a standard API for this stuff by now allowing browsers to control the cookie experience. Maybe we're moving in that direction, I'm not sure. I think there was a feeling the law would be rolled back so there was no major push to standardise things
focusatwill.com and a set of headphones has helped me a lot.

Third day in a row this has affected my productivity
Are you in the UK by any chance? Sounds just like my old commute before I started working from home, and my partner’s current one
I just received two emails from [email protected] claiming to be from MetaMask, asking me to complete KYC verification.

My first thought was “I guess MetaMask are trying to monetise”. Took me a minute to realise it wasn’t legit

When inflation hit 10% in the UK last month my employer brought forward the annual January pay increase. We all got a 5% bump. Last year it was 1%.

Edit: I work in the education sector. Our dev team has 4 people in a company of ~250. It’s not really “tech”

This sounds a lot like how I work too. If I have to open a bunch of tabs it’s usually temporary and I’ll want to get rid of them again at the earliest opportunity.
Very interested to know if there are any plans to support React Native? I’ve been struggling to find a good library that doesn’t require a web view.
Re:Heroku CI and Review App Secrets Compromised on Wednesday May 18, 2022 @02:55AM (#31419955)
Slightly off-topic, but can anyone tell me how you’d know that your database has been accessed by a threat actor? Should I be periodically reviewing all my logs for something unusual?
Re:Adobe tricks users into a 12 month contract on Saturday February 05, 2022 @12:38PM (#30223505)
I fell for this too. I wanted InDesign for 1 month to make a decent looking CV when switching jobs. I felt really stupid when I tried to cancel and realised I’d be charged the remaining balance. Adobe lost me as a returning customer.
Re:A small guide for naming stuff in front-end code on Thursday January 13, 2022 @04:51AM (#29918843)
The BEM naming convention for css works matches this concept quite well
Re:Microsoft is ditching Electron for Teams on Wednesday October 13, 2021 @01:16PM (#28854817)
I keep hoping they’ll use this for teams. The mobile app is so much more performant (not sure if that’s react native?) and RN for desktop works well but needs more features
Re:Google adds a guitar tuner to Search on Monday October 11, 2021 @05:08AM (#28826307)
One of the best purchases I ever made was about 8 years ago when I bought the Polytune iOS app for less than £5. It does one thing really well, has never tried to take more of my attention than it should with upgrades or ads, and every time I get a new phone it comes with me.
Re:TIL: Press '.' In a GitHub Repo for Magic on Tuesday August 17, 2021 @01:22PM (#28212398)
I would love it if they enabled this on pull requests. Having the file tree and the ability to jump around files and methods would be really useful
What tech do you use to do this?
Re:100 paying users in 100 days on Friday April 23, 2021 @01:19PM (#26916941)
It’s like a classic old style type but if the press was low on ink. It weirdly gives me a very honest vibe as it reminds me of cheaply printed books.
Re:All-new iMac features the M1 chip on Wednesday April 21, 2021 @02:55AM (#26886209)
I think they’ll remove the chin eventually, but probably need a new (thinner) screen technology first

Ask HN: Login with GitHub – we lost access to our Digital Ocean account

I convinced my manager to let us move one of our internal tools over to Digital Ocean two weeks ago. Since then we've lost access to our account and I have egg on my face. Can anyone offer any advice?-----We signed up to Digital Ocean using our Github account.A few days later we upgraded our Github account to the Team plan, and now we can no longer sign in to Digital Ocean via OAuth (the...

I've sent you an email to your predict salary address. Thank you :)
Re:Clubhouse Bio Generator on Wednesday February 17, 2021 @03:14AM (#26163940)
Feel bad for asking here, but does anybody have an invite code they wouldn’t mind giving me?

I keep hearing good things about the conversations that are happening, but I’ve been on the wait list for months, and I’m not in the clique
