what i want is to do something similar: to create a "video" of an old timey radio show, that is, creating visuals for shows that were already made long ago.

Re:Europe's fires are just the start on Thursday July 30, 2026 @11:49AM (#49111702)
Isn't it primarily arson? == Europe is currently facing a dual crisis of arson-driven wildfires and coordinated sabotage operations. In the summer of 2026, extreme heatwaves have exacerbated wildfire seasons in France, Spain, and Italy, where authorities have linked many blazes to deliberate human ignition. French Interior Minister Sébastien Lecornu reported 162 arrests for suspected arson since early July, noting that 90% of forest fires in France are human-caused. Investigators in Italy’s Calabria region uncovered disturbing tactics, including the release of cats with flammable-soaked rags tied to their tails to spread fire.

Beyond accidental or opportunistic arson, Europe has experienced a wave of state-sponsored sabotage in 2024 and 2025, primarily attributed to Russian intelligence. These attacks involved incendiary devices in packages sent to logistics hubs like DHL in Germany, the UK, and Poland, as well as targeted fires at an IKEA in Vilnius and a warehouse in London. Authorities consider these acts of hybrid warfare aimed at disrupting critical infrastructure and testing delivery channels for larger attacks on the US and Canada.

Key developments in European arson include:

Wildfire Arson: France arrested 162 suspects since July 6, 2026, while Spain’s deadliest blaze in 40 years killed 13 people in Almería. Calabrian Tactics: Italian officials found evidence of calculated arson using delayed ignition devices and animals to accelerate fire spread in southern Italy. Sabotage Network: Russian agents have been linked to multiple arson attacks across England, Poland, Lithuania, and Germany, with several suspects convicted or charged for acts of terrorism and espionage. Legal Fragmentation: The EU lacks a harmonized definition of arson or a centralized criminal database, forcing reliance on fragmented national investigations despite advanced satellite monitoring systems like Copernicus.

very easy for the server to intentionally (or by compromise) add a one liner to send the hash text up.
it was derived from eye charts that are explicitly designed to find defects in your eyes - it is not a coincidence the O and C look similar.
Yes a dev server. I can use a file watcher and on the JS side do the automatic page refresh there too, but was curious about local options. I haven't tried Cursor.

You might be right, but keep in mind actors often adopt variations for their names and may not even be consistent.
they have a history of "comingling" goods that claim to be from the manufacturer but sometimes are not.

Re:Adobe's new AI tool can edit 10k images in one click on Thursday January 16, 2025 @08:13PM (#42732981)
I guess there's more to it but, if you have to do all this work on lots of the backgrounds of images.. shouldn't the assets be separate in the first place? I know that's not always the case but.. IDK seems kind of contrived.

The click out to their product page is getting blocked by ABP because it is a tracking link.. is this whole article an ad?

Ask HN: Is it legal for a co. to force use of a third-party payment platform?

Hey HN,I’m based in Texas and am working with a consulting platform (that I otherwise enjoy collaborating with). They’re based in the UK with an office in Barcelona, and the work itself has been great. However, I’ve run into an issue regarding payment processing. Here’s the situation: I signed on to provide consulting services, and the payment terms weren’t fully clear upfront. Now that payment...

Re:Chainguard Images now available on Docker Hub on Thursday March 14, 2024 @10:39AM (#39704627)
If a primary goal of a consumer of the images is security, how can we trust the images not to have backdoors or virusesesses [extra s added for comedy]?

To be clear, I am not advocating it, I just expect that as a resolution.
because running your own locally will become illegal or cost prohibitive very soon.

The only thing missing really is a search engine with an LLM. How do you plan to handle our new overlord indexing?
okay, so we all agree a Matryoshka doll like system similar to SD card and microSD card is appropriate then.
I'd love to see this be usable as potentially a mower and or vacuum/mop with different swappable components.
Re:Most UK firms stick with a four-day working week after trial on Thursday February 22, 2024 @05:03PM (#39473936)
So it's as simple as "We've been telling people to work 2 extra days and now we're not and everything is fine?" let's try 4 days a week. :) Then 2. Then they just pay us without doing any work.
