$1,099 CAD for 256GB. Yeah, no.
Re:Apple releases iPhone Duo simulator and Xcode 27.1 beta on Friday September 18, 2026 @05:26PM (#49760470)
Fired it up to check my own app (RunnerCast) and it looks fine. The Liquid Glass menu moves from the bottom to the right side automatically both on the inner and outer screens. If you already had a layout that worked for iOS and iPadOS, things adapt fine to the inside screen and when you go split screen with two apps, the layout adapts nicely. I don't think I'll need to do a thing.

I've also noticed a flurry of recent app updates from some of the bigger apps (MLB, NYTimes, etc.) to switch to the Liquid Glass menu which I assume Apple strongly suggested they do prior to the Duo launch.

Will they rebrand as codeX or Xcode? Trouble either way.
I work at Tucows Domains/Hover and we're digging in on what happened here. I've reached out to the OP already via email. tl;dr our support team didn't handle this well at all and we've already issued a full refund.

We are still looking into where the price mismatch found its way into the picture, but that domain is a tiered price domain but it is also "legacy" priced meaning it should renew at something very close to the standard price for a renewal but didn't.

Sad news. He was the OG tech grouch. Went way off the deep end with conspiracy crap and right wing nonsense over the last decade, but I always assumed some of that was opportunistic performance. RIP.
Re:Buy a train, bridge or tracks from the Swiss Railway on Wednesday June 10, 2026 @10:04AM (#48476486)
That is exactly how the Halton County Railway Museum near Toronto came to be. A bunch of dudes bought an old streetcar (tram) to save it from the scrappers and built a track on some property to have fun driving it around. https://hcry.org/
Re:I Moved My Digital Stack to Europe on Wednesday May 13, 2026 @08:54AM (#48121267)
1Password also lets you pick where your data lives - US, Canada or EU. https://support.1password.com/regions/
Right up there with the Not Just Bikes guy on YouTube who used to talk about how transit-oriented cities are great or would show some positive stuff from somewhere. Now it's just endless videos about how cars suck, cities suck, even a lot of transit sucks. The constant negativity is such a put-off.
The original "Situation Room" concept with Wolf was pulling in all these live feeds from all over the place and reporting on them. Car chase in LA! Train crash in India! Protest in Paris! Let's go live!

They had a web subscription product around 2006 that gave you access to just watch all these raw feeds from CNN Affiliates all over the world. It was like Periscope but all "professional" feeds.

Re:You’re not burnt out, you’re existentially starving on Sunday December 21, 2025 @04:04PM (#46348422)
Same. I can identify with the subject matter, but the whole thing was just so off-putting. Trite, sound bites.
Re:Is Slack Down? on Monday November 10, 2025 @01:17PM (#45878943)
Yep. Similar to the other day. Uploads failing. Messages not delivering. Status is obviously hand-updated.
Re:Everything that's wrong with Google Search in one image on Wednesday September 24, 2025 @08:49PM (#45367916)
Kagi search.
Re:Phone searches at the US border hit a record high on Wednesday August 20, 2025 @01:42PM (#44964155)
Same. No interest in going to that country. We'll continue travel in Canada or throughout Europe as we have over the last year and a bit. We used to go to the US to camp and on family vacations in the winter, but we skipped that last year and this year and have no plans to visit unless the situation changes.
I spent many hundreds and maybe thousands of hours using Sony PCM7000 and 7010 Pro DAT recorders and those things were just a sheer joy to use. They were so perfect in basically ever single way.
Re:YouTube's new anti-adblock measures on Friday June 20, 2025 @01:57PM (#44330204)
I would love something like what Spotify has - private listening. In the meantime, I just go into the YouTube history and remove anything that I don't want to pollute my recommendations. Turning off search history entirely also is good.
Re:Notion Mail Is Out on Tuesday April 15, 2025 @12:58PM (#43695538)
More like "Notion Mail (for Gmail only). Notion Calendar is Google only. Notion Mail is Google only. I guess I shouldn't have expected them to do anything based on standards like IMAP.
Soyuz still lands on land. Starliner landed (and will land) on land. Blue Origin's non-orbital ship lands on land.
Re:Apple restricts Pebble from being awesome with iPhones on Tuesday March 18, 2025 @12:47PM (#43401589)
Long time Garmin watch user here and Garmins are also HORRIBLY crippled on iOS. Can I respond to a text message? No. I can clear the notification, but that is it. Apple Watch has far greater abilities than any other smart watch. That is the issue.
Re:Kagi Is Bringing Orion Web Browser to Linux on Saturday March 08, 2025 @02:17PM (#43302686)
Orion for macOS is still pretty buggy and, in my experience, a bit too frustrating to use as my default browser. I want to use it and pay the $5/month even though I don't use it all the time. It's close to being good, but not quite there yet.

Re:How to delete your Facebook account on Thursday January 09, 2025 @04:41PM (#42650060)
Same. I have Instagram and Threads accounts, but I tried to get Facebook back about 5 years after deleting it and immediately got asked for ID and then was banned with no appeal possible. I guess they take deleting your account very personally.
Re:California teacher dies from suspected rabid bat bite on Tuesday December 03, 2024 @02:15PM (#42310057)
Do not ever touch bats. Never ever. If you do touch a bat, go to the ER and tell them you touched a bat.
For anyone working at Blind - PGP encryption on emails as an option please.
The latest episode of CBC Radio's Quirks and Quarks had a very excellent segment on this odd creature (amongst other topics). It's a fantastic weekly science show available as a podcast.
