Will be interesting to see how easy this ends up being to apply - could be pretty broad-ranging.
'Beyond its scientific implications, he says, “this study has possible applications across multiple disciplines, since in principle it has potential to enable the full use of the periodic table for optical applications.” This could potentially lead to applications in spectroscopy and sensing devices, ultrathin solar cells, new kinds of materials to absorb solar energy, organic LEDs with higher efficiencies, and photon sources for possible quantum computing devices.'
I feel like (a good version of) this is the logical conclusion of progress in machine intelligence...
This is great - like Wikipedia but with explanation instead of facts that are impenetrable to those who don't already understand. There's a startup called Arbital (
https://arbital.com/) working on similar posts to this.
I'd love to see a story about someone who has made a living off domain names over a long period of time. Any examples?
Good summary of sequence risk near the bottom (i.e. where bad variance in the stock market at the beginning of your retirement may screw you over disproportionately).
This is fun and cool and clever. :+1:
The importance of having an MVP out there that potential first employees can play around with:
'Whereas with the Airbnb guys, they were super early and small but they had a product, a V1, that was up and running. And the product was working. I used it as part of my application process and was like “Yes, this is super cool, this works, I can totally envision this growing and taking over the world and I want to help do that.”'
It seems like most consumer apps incur a crazy amount of technical debt while largely paying people in equity, then if they take off raise a bunch of money to pay other people in cash to sort it all out... Pretty good system actually.

Wonder how long it would take to do the reverse...
