Same here, Home Assistant is the one I'd keep if I dropped everything else. Mine talks to a wired automation system over the local network and runs the blinds, so a light switch never waits on someone's server.

Software is in the same boat. Licenses and obfuscation never really protected anything - it was just too much work/effort to copy. Now it's one prompt..

Finally Lambda without the adapter layer.. Now please add .NET and Java with those concurrent requests
Agree. There's more code, but what's the trade-off? Fewer people on the team understand what's actually in there, so there are more and more bugs. Of course the agent will happily fix each one, and break three other things on the way, because nobody stopped to ask why the code looked the way it did.

Feels like we're building legacy code at a record speed.

My company moved from Azure DevOps to GitHub because of the AI features. ADO was reliable and easy to use, and GitHub has been neither for us. Now Microsoft is adding AI to ADO too, so the main reason for the move is going away :) ADO is much better in my opinion
It's always like this with AI-generated stuff. First impression is always good and it's "almost" like a Photoshop. But it's down to details, flows and all the stuff that normally works in PS but suddenly breaks in all those copies.. I think there might be time when AI will do huge and complex apps like this, but it's definetely not this time yet. And we are not even close
Knowing how one specific system really behaves. Docs only get you part of the way. Recently I spent a lot of time running an old Microsoft API side by side with its replacement, and a good part of the differences aren't written down anywhere. AI reads docs well, but it can't know what's missing from them.
