Sorry for the double posts. An app I was using caused it.
This complexity, my technically oriented friends, is part of the reason normal people do not use Linux.
I found the handwritten Mark Zuckerberg signature a little pretentious. Maybe that's because of The Social Network, but I don't feel like other CEO's are using their own brand like that. It's like a fashion designer or even an artist signing their work... My video was not THAT good.
I think a lot of people would find this very useful. Could you post the link on this thread along with submitting it on HN?
Thanks for the additional information. It was difficult to decipher your problems from the original article. I'm guessing the "no variability in load" processes are where AWS was the most unnecessary.
This is an awesome, simple idea. There's something to be said about simplicity. I wish I had an idea like that!
Wouldn't it be nicer if the domain names were divided alphabetically into 26 labelled pages? Right now it's 29 and difficult to browse.

I started a thread when I could not find the AMI (honestly confusing that you must launch it through the AWS marketplace outside of the console), but now I've updated it with my current problem. Perhaps we should start a new thread for this issue.
I'm in the same boat. This is pretty frustrating considering I'm paying for this special GPU instance by the hour.
Has anyone had any luck? I've set everything up and followed their instructions, but the URL they give you to access the web interface keeps timing out for me.

"This guy is a hardcore Linux geek converted into hardcore Mac-fanboy (polar opposite)"
I disagree that these are polar opposites. I have been a Windows guy most of my life, but after switching to Linux, I have learned to appreciate the merits of the UNIX basis of OSX.

I feel like this would save thousands in tech support.
Apologies for the trivial comment

I am currently in an Operating Systems class and just read about Windows's service processes. The printer spooler was specifically mentioned. I have never seen such an incompetent piece of software in a professional setting in my life. The printer spooler almost never worked if anything went wrong during a print. Google "Windows XP printer spooler" for a thousand horror stories. Anyway, I...
Are you sure that comment's name wasn't Phillip J Fry?

I have an internship opportunity in Glendale, California working on games for a Viacom company, but it is unpaid and they do not pay for housing. I am currently on the other side of the country, and have a paid internship from last summer working on Android applications for a defense contractor. I can do the unpaid internship with the fairly well known Viacom company using a $4000 dollar...
The sensationalist "* Wars" name certainly is not helping it within the technical community.
This is incredibly sensationalist. iPads are great for the run of the mill soccer mom, but anyone who wants to get any real work done needs a personal computer(Mac or Windows, trying to be unbiased in this regard). Microsoft Office isn't going anywhere, and I don't think anyone expected the 1st generation of Surface to succeed. Windows 8 is a fine operating system primarily criticized by people who used it for a very short amount of time. The Surface Pro has not even been released yet, and Apple is slowly losing their knack for innovation. Let's not throw our stocks in the air and beg Apple to take our money yet. This article draws ridiculous conclusions on shaky data and successfully draws the attention of those looking for Microsoft's downfall.

DISCLAIMER: I use Windows 8 as my main operating system.
The notion that normal desktop applications will not run on Windows 8 is incredible. I could download Minecraft right now, and it would run without a hitch. People need to use Windows 8 and realize that it is an iteration of Windows 7. It feels like Windows 7 with an interesting tablet overlay that I never use.
P.S. Every single game I own on Steam works
Yeah ideally we all work for understanding, cool tech companies, but unfortunately that's not the truth. I recommend you buy another similar, safer domain and have this one forward to it.
I'm in the same boat. I'm not sure it's the best choice for a technical blog, especially when many people visit them at work.
