Except this website chokes many desktop PCs, not to mention phones.

Re:WTF Ubuntu? on Monday November 02, 2026 @10:31AM (#50338204)
Ubuntu is not a small open source project ran by maintainers, Canonical is a full fledged b2b company with 600+ employees.
Re:The AI cost of JavaScript frameworks on Sunday November 01, 2026 @05:10AM (#50324146)
The point of using a framework is to reduce mental load at expense of customizability. The moment you need to change something in the framework - this mental model falls apart.

Obvious solutions are to vendor your dependencies (compile the framework from owned source) or to drop to the lower level of abstraction.

LLMs should have no problem using browser/node APIs directly since they're very well used, well documented, and not changing as much as higher level software does.

Amazing idea, will make one for myself today

As long as it's legal and feasible for two remote computers to talk to each other, yes.

Competitve side is much weaker than in enclose.horse, this game only measures hints used.
Re:We ran AI agent swarms in Minecraft and Mindustry on Thursday October 29, 2026 @06:58PM (#50297423)
Game tick is usually 16ms, so a nanosecond latency is 7 orders of magnitude faster than needed.
Re:Edit an SQLite database in your browser on Thursday October 29, 2026 @04:57PM (#50295829)
Exactly what a bot would say!
Embarrassing...
I also had a great experience consulting LLM regarding registering a business as a foreigner. Except I'm still very sceptical since it's not my area of expertise and consequences for a mistake are very high.

Dang, need to add two more +s
Re:Four Months of Zig on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @05:09AM (#50270884)
It's certainly a chore, especially for a project with multiple dependencies (i.e. a game). I wrote about it: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49851097

The pitch was that same amount of work would be delivered 10 times faster. Meaning you would do 10 times more work in the same time span.

No employer will ever pitch you 4 hour work week, only Tim Ferriss.

Software bottleneck has moved from hardware performance to management efficiency.
Re:Type Server Protocol on Tuesday October 27, 2026 @06:08AM (#50256814)
Oh you're right, except since LSP 3.17 position encoding can be negotiated with clients/servers that support it. I initially got confused because my work with LSP started with 3.17 and I always used UTF-8 encoding.

What's wrong with UTF-16 for transport?

Do you know where <||> syntax is coming from? I find it very odd that existing markup wasn't used and there is very little info online about it.
Re:ThinkRail from JetBrains on Sunday October 25, 2026 @04:15PM (#50235624)
There is more than ever unresolved usability holes in programmer's workflow. Coordinating work across agents and other team members, making specs and change them together with implementation, code review, support workflow of different level of "vibiness", give agents more IDE features to play with, and much more. JetBrains has both capacity and expertise to deliver a product in this space.
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Sunday October 25, 2026 @10:12AM (#50231806)
Because now it's much harder to gauge how much human effort went into building a project.

Also basic brain chemistry: seeing a pack of impressive (by 2020 standards) solo dev projects a day makes it the new norm, raising the bar for the future. But now I feel like this bar is not reachable because of no way to accurately measure "impressiveness".

Re:Challenge Is Gone on Sunday October 25, 2026 @10:07AM (#50231756)
LLMs might help you find harder challenges.
Re:We should be more ambitious with the software we build on Sunday October 25, 2026 @06:06AM (#50229920)
I'm no longer excited about projects other people share online.
Re:Show HN: Steal My Bitcoin on Saturday October 24, 2026 @07:04PM (#50226360)
Do I understand it right that it can be set up in a way that if exploit is used it can be "recorded" and revealed?
I like it this way, it gives correct expectations regarding effort put into the rest of the project.

How so? I used both at work and they're functionally the same.
