But is it an indicator of wild swings or how much value the individual dollar paper has lost?
Eh, no. The reality is that we are still paying for unresolved issues from 2008 crash. If anything, each time we kick the can, the worse the next iteration will be.
can you imagine? gamers flush with all that fancy hardware?
Not going to happen. Friendly reminder that when it came to money, politicians know exactly where the bread is buttered. When it came to Silicon Valley Bank bailout, Summers himself personally intervened[1]. Naturally, that is perfectly fine, but if one was to suggest the same for .. say.. students loan, immediately people will descend crying horrified cries of 'but but fiscal responsibility'.

Isn't it fun when all the lines are blurred and it hard to tell what belongs where?

:D I have to assume parent is being a little sarcastic.

It obviously doesn't take much to simply add 'just one more feature' that happens to undermine the original purpose of the application.

To say that it is hard, against the current and up-hill all the time is underselling it. That said, beyond what is already mentioned in the article, I would suggest the steps that are not explicitly mentioned, but nay have long term impact: - talk to your partner - it is important that you are aligned on how and why - I had to show my wife directly what is possible before she was able to wrap her head around it - talk to your school reps - more annoying and you might not get exactly what you want, but in that case even sufficient obstinacy is useful in a sense that it will let you know when they don't care enough that you need to bail - talk to the parents - somehow even more annoying than school, because school at least is obligated to respond one way or another, but parents don't and will vary wildly -- however, it is likely one of the most useful circles as your kid will interact with their kids

No takebacks make perfect sense UNTIL you hand over your keys to a third party;p

<< one cannot seriously think that the way to fix things is to reimplement everything from scratch in a wild west of shady unaccountable operators

One absolutely can, but I think things have to first get sufficiently difficult for ordinary folks to even notice. Fortunately ( sarcasm tag here for otherwise perfectly normal individuals, who may be missing some caffeine in their organism ), given that the war is coming along with various related national security restrictions, we may soon be able to experience that particular slice of fun.

In a very practical sense, if wossname big name prediction market can't technically operate in US, I am not sure why Kalshi should get an exception.

They forgot the most important one:

It will get worse.

Re:TikTok Is Changing Politics (Perhaps for the Better) on Thursday October 29, 2026 @12:32PM (#50291779)
Let me know if I am getting this right. Now that US controls TikTok, TT is behaving in a way that is conducive to what is deemed productive by other power centers. Progress.

So with proper tinfoil hat on: What can this be used for?

- targeted suppression - targeted disruption

<< There were other ways to handle that situation rather than murdering her.

Sure, just like there were likely less chancy way to protest, but here we are.

<< Hmm.... reflection?

I would argue I am reflecting pretty well.

It is interesting to watch you reduce things to primitives that have little to do with subject at hand. It is almost as if you yourself fit the helpfully provided quote above.
Neither.
Re:Mac Studio M5 Ultra 512GB Officially Released on Wednesday October 28, 2026 @02:14PM (#50278373)
It is not exactly an investment, but I guess a lot depends on what you actually would want to do with it.
You got a point. I have tendency to 'talk it through' with gpt beforehand and it prepares initial prompt based on that conversation. It is only lately that it provides pseudo-design notes on its w/o asking.
Ok. That is actually pretty hardcore in the sense that it almost forgoes the speed benefit, but I get what you are going after.
Interesting. Do you separate environments in any way ( VM, toolbox or anything like that ) to prevent contamination?

Ask HN: How do you keep your mind from forgetting how to think?

I am not messing with you.I did a couple longer codex sessions in the past week over several different projects and there were genuine moments of 'I am drawing an actual blank.. can you tell me what it was that we were supposed to do next' with a tinge of holy crap I can't add basic two facts together. Some background. I was playing with some forms of llms for ..2 years now, but only more...

I gave you an upvote, because it was at least visibly reasoned.
I think you are onto something. I think most agents I have up is two and even that I am not super comfortable not carefully managing. Otoh, buddy has agents galore running his network and everything giving him updates in near real time. I just.. don't have that much .. I want to say faith, but that suggests unshakeable religious belief.. confidence. I don't have that kind of confidence. There is too much stuff connected now ( taxes, projects, work, fun ). I am slowly starting to separate everything even that takes some careful planning.
You know what? Fuck it. I am the designated Musk defender today.

This kind of propaganda ( Putin Bad. Putin Praises Musk. Musk Bad ) is so lazy it is embarrassing. Get your silly willies together.

Eh. If there is one thing I have learned about the management class, it is that they tend to be lemmings, who believe in social proof above all else; few of them ( though sadly that applies to most people anyway -- it is just more concerning in the case our apparent leaderhsip ) can parse information on their own and apply it to the case at hand.
You know.. I think the funny difference between you and me is one of style. You pretend to be righteous. I just am right.
Now that is a narrative. Thank you for illustrating.
I agree something will have to give. Current situation is a clear indicator of a major change in power balance. I know it was discussed on HN before, but just being able to generate actual online profiles with a dose of confidence based on known various personal fingerprints is enough to make most of us hesitate ( just the other day I put the method to the test on persona HN analyzer thing -- it gets crazy fast; I stopped, but I suspect a lot of people have built an equivalent that just happens to run behind various closer doors ).

Interesting times man.

Hmm. Interesting. Function may be an emergent quality of the organization itself ( as human I have two hands, as octopus I have more appendages to play with ). In other words, the question is not really on what you personally would rather have, but what a given body type bestows upon a given organizational type.

Your body determines your function oversimplification for the purposes of this argument.

<< Your argument was also quite downvoted. Surely not because of a woke conspiracy, probably more because indeed your argument makes no sense. Maybe you should consider that maybe it is the case?

Friend. I don't care what you downvote. I have seen what you vote for. In a sense, I don't even have a need to convince you here. Life will go on with or without this argument proceeding. Allow me to demonstrate.

End of communication.
