Something else would end up scarcer

The fact that it's built with a game engine may make it easier than it would otherwise be.
I wouldn't be surprised if the process is intertwined with a paper one as well. That adds significant complication, but it still shouldn't take it.
"I could create a whole new product that could scale to millions of users on a weekend." Sounds like an extremely appealing business idea.
A common use case, how to do random thing in programming:

I searched python make a bar chart and it returned a live coding video with an AI generated text transcript and two articles which mentioned a different kind of bar.

I then narrowed it down to just python bar chart, and got a blog post about scripting with a bar chart in it, this http://www.nitcentral.com/voyager4/hellyear.htm with monty python, bars, and charts from 1996 and among some other things I found this https://python-course.eu/naive_bayes_classifier_introduction..., which had an example of a python bar chart even though the title of the page made me think it wasn't what I wanted.

So for what I imagine to be a difficult search because of all the different meanings of the words, I found my result on the second query pretty quickly, and found some cool unrelated stuff too.

I like mostly that I get what I type in, and not exactly what I want, but what I want is there too.

Seems like there's a probably reasonable trend of piling some other tool on top of the stack because dealing with underlying layers is hard. Like electron apps and docker images. Or just web browsers.

Kind of worrisome to abandon lower layers with their problems and build on top of them, but what can you do, but get good at jenga.

Even more interesting that the productivity dropped then.
Does anyone know anything about japenese office culture that might be relevant to this? Maybe part of the SV culture like open offices makes this a whole different deal then how japan is.

May be relevant to the discussion, probably more so considering cars going hybrid.

Re:Ask HN: What would you like to ask GPT-3? on Tuesday February 02, 2021 @10:35AM (#26002162)
I meant to ask it, "What would you ask GPT-3?", unless that's what you meant by existential of course.

What would you ask GPT-3?

I may be misunderstanding the free oxygen part, but if that's the case why doesn't that happen in our ocean?
Re:Ask HN: How do we build the new remote education system on Wednesday January 13, 2021 @01:24PM (#25765997)
I'm not really sure if actually doing something will be effective for say learning history. I think of all the odd activities teachers had me do, and I kind of wish they just told me the story, but I'm a guy who now listens to history podcast so may just be personal.

Also think of all the odd physics demonstrations and I'm not sure they really often enhanced my knowledge more than a gif would of especially versus the expense. Does anyone know of any research around this area?

In some other teen circles it's a negative status symbol. In the "you wasted your money on that?" sort of way.
As somewhere to start there be some preexisting research on the effects of tax returns on poorer families that I would not know how to find.

Not breached by non-Romans. It's easy to discount all the internal conflict.
Re:Ask HN: Would you work for Facebook? on Monday June 08, 2020 @12:08AM (#23453478)
If you put it to good use, I'd imagine the marginal benefit of having a lot of money to do good things with outweighs the marginal cost working at Facebook.
Re:The pandemic is giving people vivid, unusual dreams on Monday April 20, 2020 @01:05PM (#22925848)
Look into hypnagogic imagery and Wake Induced Lucid Dreaming (WILD). It's a big thing in lucid dreaming circles to use that sort of thing to enter into a dream conscious and then control (steer?) it.

Re:How to resolve a conflict when both sides are right on Thursday April 02, 2020 @11:09PM (#22766012)
I'm not a professional, but you seemed to be using refactor and rewrite interchangeably. I had the impression they were different and you seem to be applying all the bad ideas of rewrites to refactors.
A drop in supply in food all at once could raise the price causing considerable issues.
Not the most credible evidence, but from some reading long ago I can't find. I think it has to do with the way spines break it damages the nerve endings. If you were to slice the spine with a sufficiently sharp blade I believe they would regrow.
Likely many older academics, just from the inertia.

Re:Ask HN: Not resting fully because can't sleep long enough on Friday January 17, 2020 @11:44AM (#22076244)
I have been using a sleep mask to block out the morning and other light, and have a few history podcast I listen to, but those are more to go to sleep faster than to wake up later.
Re:Friended is a new social network that wants to get real on Thursday November 07, 2019 @05:02PM (#21477794)
I wonder if regardless of the design of the platform, if simply having this be the idea behind the network will attract the right people, and build the right community to make it work.
Re:Microsoft 4-day week boosts productivity and sales on Monday November 04, 2019 @10:34AM (#21442549)
Also novelty could play into it, but then again also people don't like change.
Is the vote of the election ever: "Can you make this one website that is messy better?". People are more focused on big issues and annoying software won't often make the platform.
