Thanks for this.
They admit wrongdoing in the quote.
OP Here. This is an amazing response from a city agency. In the end of the day, agencies rarely interact directly with citizens. The normal response to someone analyzing your data is to close up and have no comment. The fact that they admit the mistake is huge, and big step forward for Open Data and agency interaction.
OP Here. If you go through my blog, you'll see that I have pushed for change from many agencies. Scroll to bottom of article for list. And yes, I will be rechecking.

He wrote it as cars being added to the streets.
Yes. I can confirm that I am not skinny. They did not fact check that part.
Policy is not the same as law. A police department can have a policy on how to distribute resources....
Remember it is just a price change on the page. The machines are already online and they change prices with every fare change. I bet they can do it.
It's a price change! They don't reprogram cash registers each time a price changes. (On a side note, I do happen to be a software developer!)
I was going to ask that as well. Thanks!
Ahhh, government software. The change would be in the numbers displayed... Seems pretty straightforward given how often they raise fares.
That's one way to look at it. But I always feel being aboveboard is the way to go on this stuff. Also, its a tiny bit of a regressive tax as well. Unlimited cards go to those who can afford the upfront cost.
