Languages, frameworks, technologies etc.
Apple is making better hardware than ever. Like your iPad, devices get at least 5 years of updates and will generally run faster every year. Like you said the biggest noticeable difference is in the battery, but this is obviously a much harder problem to solve.
Governments can only be trusted when any given individual can be trusted. I understand that Norway’s current government is one of the most accountable and transparent in the world so the damage a given individual can do is limited, but that entails trusting all future governments.
Nah I believe it. I’m thinking of the people who switched their entire identity from Social Justice to Ukraine for about 5 minutes.
I think you overestimate the amount that the average person cares about their privacy.
Khan Academy is great, but I mean for all resources on a subject. In other words, a place where people can post curations of resources, not actual content. So say I wanted to learn linear algebra it would point to Khan Academy for the basics part and then other places as well.
Is there a website that anyone knows of for these types of open-source curriculums? Feel like it would be nice to have a place where people could post these and you could reference them when you wanted to learn something in the correct order and with the best resources.
For the trading jobs, would I need experience in trading particularly. Also, for these jobs in general do side projects and the like matter a lot (like they do for SWE)? Thanks sm btw!

I go to a top ten school where I am studying computer science and at the moment a second major in math. I can pretty much see my future right now, and I don't really like it. Like everyone else around me I'll probably go into SWE or (more likely with a math background) finance, as is extremely popular at my college. While these jobs do interest me, I don't really want to be a SWE day-to-day. I...

Anyone have any advice on how to find ways to get side projects going that might generate a little bit of revenue? I've got the skills to do it I think, I just seem to have no viable ideas. Thanks.

I'm a self-taught programmer, currently in college and I'd really like to have a side-project to devote some of my free time towards but I seem to be going through a long period where none of my ideas interest me. Any recommendations for a problem that you think might be worth tackling?
Fair, which one would you recommend picking up first?

I am going to college in the US in September as an international student but my school year finished in January. I have about 8 more months of doing nothing on my hands and had thought about learning C or C++ just because I have always heard that they give you a good base knowledge of how other languages work under the hood. I would say I'm fluent in Java, Swift and Python.Do you have any...
I just assumed that a lot of them would be novels. If you have any recommendations for real-life stuff I’d love that too.

I recently read American Kingping by Nick Bilton and I thought it was really good. It’s about the founder of the Silk Road and how the FBI tracked him down. Can you recommend any similiar novels?
Where would a person even begin to learn how to do something like this? I’m a programmer but wouldn’t even know where to start on a project like this.
I you're looking to learn about the maths behind neural nets and really understand how they work I'd recommend Andrew Ng's deeplearning.ai course. Starts from scratch and will give you a deep understanding when you're done.
I’ve always looked at prison as more of a deterrent for committing crimes. If he wasn’t criminally charged maybe others would think committing similar actions would be worth just paying fines. You might say that people in the auto industry wouldn’t copy his actions but I’d say prison works this way on a societal level.
Same here I can’t find the counter in my app although everyone else seems to have it.
I just wanted to say that it’s actually nice not to be the only one who is harassed by forex trading ads around the web. Them and Mobile Strike are pretty much all of the ads I see. (I do have Adblock but can’t block for YouTube mobile etc.)
Isn't this kind of something that might be phased out in the next few years. I'd imagine there would be some kind of web tool doing authentication like this at some point just because of how obsolete sms seems these days. Correct me if I am wrong though.

I made this app for the iPhone and iOS 11. It uses a deep learning model to guess what a user is drawing onscreen. I thought it was a cool idea because it showcases the huge strides deep learning has made in the past few years. Go and check it out if you have an iPhone: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/draw-ai/id1272256639?ls=1&mt...
Thanks just what I was looking for.

I am very interested in ML and am looking into tutorials etc. In the meantime, however, I have an idea for an application that would analyse and detect basic images (don't want to give it away of course ;)). So I was wondering if there are any untrained models that I could train with my own dataset (I have an absolutely massive training dataset available so that isn't an issue) or some kind of...
