imakesoft on Hacker News
Jovrney.com is my personal project and I wanted to get some feedback. What do you think about the current version and what would make it more engaging or interesting?
I already have a lot of ideas how to improve the service but my main talent is in design, not in development, so the work progresses very slowly.
If someone wants to offer help I would be more than glad to accept it. :)

As a designer I'm interested of icons (shortcuts) usage on Android. There are some apps that let you change your Home Screen icons. Are you styling your Home Screen with icons? If so, what do you look for in new icons? Is it important to "theme" all icons or only certain icons? Is it also important that the icons are matching with the wallpaper? How about renaming the shortcut, is it important?
Sweet! I just think it's too hectic. It refreshes the view too often and I lose my focus.
Very interesting. I'm trying to think about real life applications for this. Where do you get the data? Are you thinking of making it as a public API? :)
I just love it how Americans are so proud if they can "drive a stick". :D Anyway I have a Toyota Auris Hybrid and it's pretty awesome. It's really pleasant to drive. I guess I'm lucky to be able to drive both: automatic & manual because at least in Europe the automatic prices are way higher in rental cars.
This is awesome! Thank you! :)
FYI: Your blog looks... different than other blogs. Which is a good thing. :)
I like it! Only wish is to have a reload/reset button quickly accessible because you need it a lot. :)
This is very cool! I wish I would know how to be a DJ. :)
I'm also curious is the data real time and where does it come from?
Who's bookmark widget are you using?
Is it important that the widget looks nice?

As a designer I'm interested of widget usage on Android. I found this (old) post where HTC claims that people don't use widgets: http://www.imore.com/htc-learns-2013-what-apple-knew-back-2007-widgets-arent-widely-usedI'm a bit confused because I know many people who use widgets on Android. So, do Android users use widgets or not? I guess widgets are mainly for techies than casual non-tech-savvy...
But the biggest problem is that iTunes itself is badly developed? Apple way is that each user has a Macbook which has an iTunes to which user can sync her/his iPhone. Syncing many mobile devices into one machine with one iTunes gets messy.
I could write a book "How NOT to be successful" and maybe in some reverse way people could benefit what NOT to do. :)
This is so strange that I have hard time understanding it. :) Sounds like a potential security issues to me.
Awesome! I'm a big fan of design languages and systems. Mobile & web designers have had too much freedom during the past years. Some streamlining and standards will only do good for the scene.
This article reminds me as a designer how Hacker News (and Reddit) could use a face lift. I have a hard time reading the small text and identify in the listings that what's a link and what's not. :/
I like it. It's simple & elegant and does exactly what it promises to do. :)
I agree that the nature of the article is bad but still I would not be surprised to hear that Facebook is listening to phone conversations. That's why I don't use it. :P
Hey wow, this is pretty impressive. Good job! :)
http://boogiemarks.netSome of you might remember that I show cased this site here around 2 months ago.
Back then it was purely about bookmarks but thanks to our active users the service can now move to a next level.
New Boogiemarks is not just about bookmarks but also about discovering cool & useful sites.
You can still save sites for your personal use or collaborate and delight others with your findings.

I'm a UI/UX designer with a "strong" technical background. I could team up with an excellent developer who needs help with design. ;)

I'll keep the story short and jump right into the point: Last March I attended in IxD16 conference in Helsinki, Finland. In there I saw a great speech from Josh Seiden who talked about Learning from Live Systems but it was basically about Lean UX.Here's the video of that speech:
https://vimeo.com/159385449Notice that at 17:48 he mentions Hacker News. I was instantly sold! :)
Because I was exited...
What exactly is the lucrative website he created? :)
Very interesting. Thanks for sharing. I would like to see something similar relating to design e.g. Pair designing vs. Solo designing. :)
Thanks for this. I still think that Boogiemarks is different. I try to really focus on UX and simplicity.
Thanks for your feedback. This is a MVP and I have lots of things in my roadmap that I would like to do. My main expertise is in design, so I've not yet been able to do all the things I've wanted.
I quickly checked your service. Looks interesting. Maybe we should collaborate and not compete with each other? :)
