Re:What's the cheapest domain you can register for 10 years? on Sunday September 11, 2022 @03:35AM (#32797576)
EU.org domains can be registered for free and do not expire. I've registered one more than 10 years ago, set up DNS using he.net and never had any issues.

Waze has speed trap warnings, Google maps doesn't.

What does he stand to gain, surely this is a breach of contract.

Looks like most of the code is processing the arguments.

Why would an internal network need a publicly resolvable domain?

Re:Ringless voice mails from telemarketers on Sunday June 04, 2017 @08:05AM (#14481007)
Not sure if it still works, but in Israel it is as simple as prepending the voice mail prefix to the phone number. Some voice mail boxes can receive faxes, so there is some legitimate use for it.
Theresa May should educate herself before making statements like that.

Any person with half a brain and has some knowledge about how the internet works, knows that it's not possible to regulate it entirely.

For example, any image can be made to contain an encrypted message, without anyone ever knowing it's there [1]. This will just be another blow to everyone's privacy if she gets her way.

True. What does viewing pornography have to do with terrorism? I find it despicable that she's using a horrible event to push forward her own agenda.

As pointer out by @wlesieutre [1], the fidget spinner does not do not correspond to the claims of Catherine Hettinger's patent.

Re:On Conference Speaking on Wednesday May 31, 2017 @05:46AM (#14451336)
I don't agree. Not everyone is born a good public speaker.
Which country is that? Does this rule apply to tourists as well?
Re:PostgreSQL 10 Beta 1 Released on Thursday May 18, 2017 @11:35AM (#14368117)
PostgreSQL is an amazing project. A no-nonsense database that delivers what it promises. I'm amazed at what a talented group of people can accomplish when they are driven and put their mind to it. Thanks for a wonderful product.

I love it when those HHGTTG references pop up every now and then on HN.
Re:Uber hit by legal setback in Europe on Thursday May 11, 2017 @01:31PM (#14317862)
Uber has hugely optimized the way I get from place to place. The only thing I need is a phone and there is no messing around with cash. While I don't agree with all their policies (like a 30% tax on drivers), their user experience is several orders of magnitude better than a normal Taxi. I'm currently in Costa Rica and the drivers are always friendly and courteous. They usually have new(er) cars and are happy to offer you some candy or change the radio station to your liking. None of that has ever happened in a Taxi. In the long run, Uber's business model is to get rid of the drivers and operate self-driving cars. I think we are close to that day, they just need to survive until then.
> if you try to cut off money from phone companies, you can be sure you'll get jail time

What do you mean by that?

Re:Making a Game in Rust on Tuesday May 09, 2017 @08:31PM (#14305052)
The author explains the process briefly here: https://gist.github.com/michaelfairley/d86137085307d2e5c16ee.... I think the most obvious pitfall is the native API calls for both platforms. Maybe a cross platform framework like PhoneGap for Rust?
Awesome, I love videos like this.

Not affiliated, but looks like it could be interesting to some people here.

Just found the license and seems it's a M$ product.

> they view the medication AS the fix, instead of the tool that helps you find it

This. Professionals should explain that these medications are a tool to help you manage rather than a "fix" you should be taking your whole life. It is possible to figure this out on your own, like the OP did, but not everyone can.

I wanted to install the now CLI for Linux and then realized it's over 40M in size. Can someone explain why a CLI tool needs to be the size of a browser.

Really? Twitter inserts a deliberate delay before updating the number of notifications you have?
In the Dutch language, and probably others, people tell the time similarly.

Is PayPal being subjected to those laws? After all they are not a bank.

> Finally, wetsuits are made with neoprene, an air-bubble infused rubber. These highly buoyant suits force the diver to wear extra weight during the dive. They also compress at depth so the diver must compensate for the changes in buoyancy with the buoyancy compensator device. I have developed a wetsuit material using silicone and an additive that is a better insulator than neoprene and neutrally buoyant.

Awesome. The wetsuit might also be used by people with neoprene allergy. I have been using a suit from Fourth Element which does not trigger any allergies but doesn't keep me very warm either.

I am not a Muslim and neither an American citizen. After reading multiple articles like these it has become clear to me that any visitor to the United States should backup and wipe their phones and take the minimum amount of electronics. It's not that I have something to hide, is the invasion of my privacy that bothers me.
