This is from the view of a software person or must be, because formal definitions of math, chemistry, physics, engineering, the English language, etc. have existed for centuries. There are entire college curricula, formal dictionaries, exact specifications for equations and how to apply them to basically all fields of engineering.
Like... other fields exist, this is incredibly myopic. What is specific to software is it is all language based, and the people making the tools happen to be familiar with it so they know how to train it, but that's about it.
I think you're vastly underestimating the sophistication of players that target this scale of theft when you make it easy by using an infrastructure designed to be preyed upon.
Banking systems exist such as they do with the regulations that they do for a reason.
It didn't become a major regret really until the antitrust treated android as a competitive space and iphone separate. That decision led to a lot of wtf and tactics changing. Because the platform had been made open it was then an issue of tying vs if it had just been closed like apple there wouldn't have been an issue was a pretty stupid take if you ever want to see an open platform again.
Its more a reflection of the vastly different internal culture of the time (and different executive leadership).
When Patrick Pichette left and Sundar became CEO both led to massive culture shifts.
You need to accept them to use most any of the apps though which is super sleazy
This is laughably uninformed for what the goals are of those conflicts.
Suppression of populace is vastly different than "trying to beat terrorism" or end resistance in a jungle.
Go take a look at actutal comparable environments, like china, or north korea for how well that goes for the dissenters
Individuals with guns defending against a modern military with drones and tanks is a fantasy.
I think you're making an assumption that the owners of this capital aren't: "That the economy has to work out for everyone."
The economics work out just fine. Their actual target business model is replace
every knowledge worker. Their thought process is "look at all these people making 150k+, we can do their jobs for 10% of that, think how much money that would be if we had all of it"
Sure, the next step is complete regression to feudalism, but they aren't thinking that far ahead, they just want to take every job in existence that isn't physically turning a proverbial wrench.
Everyone in cloud knew this was going to happen, the contracts for all parts of server stuff were measured in years.
It is a competitive market, all the market is selling to the most competitive bid price.
When there are massive costs to entry, then this is what happens on a huge demand surge that can pay 10x more than everyone else.
Same, my desktop is a top end full of ram beast that I thought I overpaid for because motherboards had gone up. Bought everything before the surge. Past me was damn lucky. Wish I had bought some stock tho.
A significant portion probably support it.
not that I'm intending to defend Sergey here but, if you could spend 0.04% of your net worth to protect 5% of your net worth (and probably all of your easy liquidity)... wouldn't you?
It’s as well implemented as any other x system
It’s not a lack of due diligence, it’s a lack of prosecution of fraud. They think they can just unload to some sucker for a big payday. See also the entirety of cryptocurrency.
Because RSS is a way to give your bait content away for free without getting your ad revenue for it. Its a complete misfeature from the perspective of a site.
Yes, those are the definitions everyone is working with.
What? Encryption has never eliminated attack vectors, it just shifts them to weaknesses in the implementation
Anyone not resetting this outside of a peering agreement establishing support for it is weird.
Wow this is a terrible idea. I used to really respect the security and identity team what happened?
You proved their point and you don't even realize it. Those aren't escaped inputs, they're segregated precisely because escaping an input channel is an unwinnable jr engineer trap.
Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory is the specialty of product managers.
Yeah 90% of the time the simple solution is just use Google time and these problems are smeared away because they got burned enough internally they did it themselves
No one is as sure of their negotiating position as the software dev / temporarily embarrassed founder who thinks they’re special and the bestest and better than everyone else exactly like them.
Yeah you could just run rsync and sshfs.
dumb regulation meaning any regulation they don't understand the purpose of is the point.
5 years ago they had the same incentives.
