Re:RAPx: A static analysis tool for Rust programs on Thursday August 20, 2026 @08:58AM (#49374030)
The quickstart instructions don't include that it needs Z3's headers installed or needs a specific nightly version (nightly-2026-07-21, in their CI, or compilation fails).

There are LLM plan markdown files committed in the repo and every commit looks LLM-generated.

What kind of issues could prevent a company with such resources from that?
Re:State of Python 3.13 Performance: Free-Threading on Tuesday November 05, 2024 @09:34AM (#42051733)
Performance for python3.14t alpha 1 is more like 3.11 in what I've tested. Not good enough if Python doesn't meet your needs, but this comes after 3.12 and 3.13 have both performed worse for me.

3.13t doesn't seem to have been meant for any serious use. Bugs in gc and so on are reported, and not all fixes will be backported apparently. And 3.14t still has unavoidable crashes. Just too early.

What services are people using to run continuous integration for ARM? I see Travis CI has an alpha. Azure Pipelines doesn't host ARM instances I think.

In [1]: bool(0)

Out[1]: False

Idiomatic Python may say "if not user_id:" and erroneously skip this.

Can anyone elaborate on how "Rust changes the way you think"?

You should implement at least Sender Policy Framework to endorse only email from your own servers. Better yet implement DomainKeys Identified Mail.
Re:New Dell UltraSharp Monitors on Thursday October 31, 2013 @05:03PM (#6649866)
Does anyone know how much it costs to produce desktop-sized displays compared to phone-sized? I'm wondering why Dell would still make the 24" UltraSharp just 1920x1080.

Gmail certainly does: it implements DKIM.
Using an image algorithm to process audio reminds me of Jeff Hawkins' arguments in On Intelligence, specifically in arguing that the brain processes all types of input in the same way of recognizing a pattern of activation within a sequence. Very interesting book.

Re:Replacing Python on Sunday September 29, 2013 @04:13PM (#6466338)
Interesting. I wonder about maintainability if the writer's "obvious" version is only there to be refactored out. Can you still read the intent when he's done?
Re:Don’t Slurp: How to Read Files in Python on Friday September 27, 2013 @07:43PM (#6460242)
Relying on GC to close the file isn't safe. See http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1834556/does-a-file-objec...

In the article it's actually 9ms rather than 90ms--0.009 seconds.
I'm looking for similar system builders after being disappointed with ThinkPads lately. Can anyone recommend more machines or companies like this?
Thank you.

When you learn, the myelin between the relevant neurons increases. The Talent Code discusses this at length, and argues that skill in something is a function of myelin strength.
Re:If Tech Is So Important, Why Are IT Wages Flat? on Thursday December 06, 2012 @12:32AM (#4880426)
Flat wages really aren't, for the reason that labor productivity has historically and consistently increased slightly every year. Some shared split of productivity gains between corporations and employees accounts for great wage increases during the '40s, '50s, and '60s. Why there hasn't been an increase in wages for most workers from the '70s on is an interesting economic and sociological issue.
Re:Measure results, not hours on Sunday October 07, 2012 @05:35PM (#4624532)
It's surprising, but I actually count 91 public non-charter Montessori schools. Often they're magnet schools or 'academies', and it looks like very often just elementary.
