While this has some value - it just screams another product that was slapped together in a night for "product hunt" clout.

Most of these examples aren't that great, and it could've been delivered as a blog post.

Re:Ask HN: What are you working on in lockdown? on Tuesday March 31, 2020 @04:54PM (#22742464)
I built a little greenhouse, and working on a chicken coop. Trying to spend more time outside in the garden. It's a good "social distance" escape
Re:Ask HN: Best example codebases written in Go on Thursday August 22, 2019 @09:37AM (#20767867)
Yeah, poor choice of words. Really just looking for codebases that are idiomatic, well written, and fun to read. Inspiration

Just bought a Thinkpad T480, put 32GB ram and an SSD in it. Runs amazing with linux and the keyboard is a huge upgrade from my 2016 MBP.

Great response, thanks for that. I admire all of the engineers you mentioned as well.
Re:A backdoor in the Ruby gem bootstrap-sass on Saturday April 13, 2019 @05:22PM (#19655821)
To all replies of this comment - it came off wrong. I didn't mean to "sling shit".

I was referring to the 'event-stream' incident in which the package maintainer unknowingly passed it off to a new malicious maintainer (he has 100s modules). The farcry between the two was that the original maintainer basically wiped his hands clean from incident, whereas in this _specific_ scenario the maintainers of 'bootstrap-sass' offered suggestions on how to improve the security and prevent similar events in the future. I was impressed by the prompt and professional response by the maintainers, that's all.

That being said - I generalized my comment too much, and I agree with zer01 that npm and bundler communities are very comparable and both do a great job.

Glad to see the ruby community handled this quickly and professionally. Proud rubyist here.

Far cry from the way a recent npm vuln was handled.

Thanks that was my plan. Waiting until I get a little closer to choosing before I make the calls. Thanks for reply

Same thing I have read, but the future looks promising. There's some new developments from what i can tell and infrastructure is expanding

Ask HN: Remote Working from rural Alaska?

Just wondering if anyone on here works full time remote from Alaska (specifically outside of anchorage). I've been researching a possible relocation and the biggest issue for me seems to be internet.I rely on video chat throughout the day, and I'm worried I'll lose that if I move to a small town in AK. Anyone out there doing this successfully? Thanks all

Ask HN: How does slow internet impact your work?

For those who don't have access to high-speed internet (<5mbps up/down) - how has this impacted your work? With modern package managers (npm, pip, etc), docker images, etc - it can take significant time to download dependencies. I currently have a fiber internet connection (>300mbps), but there's a chance I'll move to a rural area with slow internet (<5-7mbps).For reference, i use...

Awesome product - one suggestion, add support for browser history and pressing the back button.

Looks great!

Treat sales like learning a new programming language. Become familiar with the foundational knowledge (prospecting, selling, closing) and then dig into systems/frameworks (which are really just books about sales) that people use to sell.

I agree with everyone else here that says "Don't try to master everything". Instead, learn how to speak the language and do enough so you don't miss opportunities. A good partner will go a long way.
