I am hopeful for Reddit's future because of its community.
I've been using Reddit for over 8 years, through many transitions, and I still go to it everyday to read and interact with many friends I've met there.
I believe that everyone currently working on Reddit knows why it's great, and is interested in making it even better.
I believe in Reddit's team, and I believe in Reddit.
But in this case, doing exactly the same things and expecting a different outcome is insanity defined.
Spec'ing HTTP 2.0 has been such a clusterfuck. According to Mark in an email to the HTTP Working Group, as of January 2012 they were "past the four year mark (on a WG that was originally chartered for a year and a half)".
No wonder he's concerned about failure through "spending five years fighting and gazing at our navels."
