Start reading something else. You focused too much on money and little on anything else. I was asking myself days ago how some people make so much money and I dont. But I forgot what I have and others dont. I'm your complementary. I started 10 years ago when I dropped out and started travelling and reading everything. I know everything I wanted to know. But we cant have everything. At least one thing you can do now is to pay someone you choose to give you what you lack.

Ask HN: I want to sell a $18000 domain name, are there any brokers interested?

That is the automatic price suggestion of SEDO, the real price could be different. Important to know that it is a one word name and the gTLD extension was introduced in 2014, the date when I registered. It was supposed to be my personal project and that is why I paid a premium price during Early Auction. The idea is not dead after almost 4 years but I'm slow at programming doing another...

The question is only about you. If you have money, you can do what you want next. But if you dont, stick to a job that gets you closer to where you want to go. I dont trust certifications.
Re:Ask HN: Success stories of co-founders that met online? on Tuesday October 17, 2017 @04:46PM (#15494781)
I am in your situation. I've been working on a MVP and I'm close to release this software.

But I met an investor, interested to invest, who asked me if I have a team or any plans. So they expect us to have a team. I'm the kind of freedom guy, thats why Im in business, dont want a boss, not going for the money.

But there is a problem with success. I fear that if it will be successful, I'll have to partner with a CTO as I'm not the stronger tech guy. And I will not have time to do everything myself.

What I thought about is to contact people I read on the internet, anywhere on the internet. Its likely that they have a job but you never know. If they have time to write on the internet maybe they are not that busy. And I identified someone that I would like to partner with if needed.

This idea with dating a co-founder would be very useful. Even if you dont find or need a co-founder, just to meet like minded people is good. I'm happy I answered you because I understand you.

What is the purpose of the website androido.trade?

doing a Google search site:http://androido.trade looks like this person did a guide for every existing phone to install something. But the text on each page is the same. It smells fishy. The file is split in 3 .rar parts. Does it contain malware ? I dont see any other purpose for the website.

Re:What I look for in a pitch on Tuesday August 22, 2017 @08:28AM (#15071668)
Thats exactly what I told an investor who approached me. It looks like these people look only for money/IPO and demanding from us not only a product but also to make an executive team.

I give up the big profit, I only care about "not caring for employees"

what I dislike about crypto curencies beside forking is the size of the chain. Even latest software downloads over 1GB
Re:Should tech recruiters learn to code? (2014) on Sunday August 13, 2017 @04:36PM (#15004808)
I dont even allow recruiters to interview me. I never met a male recruiter and that is another symptom of the problem.

whatever you do, you cant satisfy everyone. As libertarians say, if technology eliminated sins, the popes and prison guards would go bankrupt...

Yes, I write it on the back of my CV using a small font so nobody could see it.

Re:Ask HN: How to manage my bookmarking habit? on Monday June 19, 2017 @05:01PM (#14590426)
well I have 10k bookmarked domains alone, who knows how many booksmarks for each domain... Tell me how many MB is your bookmark file - if you use firefox - and I'll tell you mine, last time it was over 50MB.

Actually my Firefox became super heavy and I didnt investigate yet why. The problem is not bokmarking but to have a browser that can handle it.

Re:Show HN: Get Paid to Build Your Next Side Project on Wednesday June 14, 2017 @02:07PM (#14554683)
So this is similar to crowdfunding except that we can ask what we want to be built ?

What I'm willing to pay for but cant easily develop myself is to add features from OSX to linux. Not too many, I'd start with:

- a graphical browser like Finder where I could color tag files.

- UI/UX: do something about easier configuration of the trackpad. Even when I installed linux on Macbook the trackpad does not work the same or does not have all the tapping actions instead of clicking. I cant even drag files/links to file-browser-sidebar/dock or such things.

I have many ideas just like others but whats important is that I dont have a job and nobody wants to employ me in IT. Its the only thing I can do, to try smth by myself. Recently I talked to a few people on Angel website and with a few of those I was about to have a Skype interview. But didnt get any response back. And I'm not the type of guy begging for a job.

So my idea is just what my passion is, I dont even know if people will need it. This is the only time I go by the saying 'build it and they will come'.

Re:Ask HN: How do you take care of your eyes? on Tuesday June 13, 2017 @07:34AM (#14544048)
My only solution is to spend less and less time on the computer. I know I might never know as much as others have and I might never earn as much but I believe health is more important.
why not educating people instead of banning ?

AskHN: How to earn $1000/mth as a self-employed programmer?

I've heard such an idea that to be happy one doesnt need to earn more than a few thousand bucks per month. Believe it or not I'd be OK with only $1000 per month. I have the skills and can cut all costs for things not required in order to survive. But thinking about all the stress removed, no more thinking about competition, etc, that would be a positive gain. I think there are some YouTube...

Re:Facebook is an attack on the open web on Thursday June 01, 2017 @03:29PM (#14463651)
I closed my FB in 2013 and time passes so quick. I created a dummy account to have access to certain pages but I dont use it. But a lot of people have created thousands of dummy accounts to show how many friends they have. They sell on the market fake accounts/followers.

And I dont want to be part of such a group. Plus other reasons like the ones in the article like this.

the best I saw other people use is .name

Wikipedia says its for personal use.

When you talk like that many will think they are going through exact the same things like you.

The greatest thing I discovered about going independet is that there is a salary limit and above that money does not bring any more satisfaction. So there should be space for everyone, forget about competition and negative emotions. As for that limit some say that a few thousands per months is enough to live well. Well for me even one thousand usd/eur is enougn because I rarely make more that that as employee. Just get used with copy cats there is no escape.

the fire consumes all the fuel that it receives.

Although his concepts look nice on paper I dont understand what the solution is to stop people to breed exponentially. And then we are back to the same problem we have now.
