hypnotist

I feel like. there should be a framework based on go where you just compile the and ship one binary to a server.
looks awesome. But I do not vibe too much with turn based games. Anything similar but "realtime" ?
Re:Brazil's X ban is sending lots of people to Bluesky on Sunday September 01, 2024 @01:53AM (#41414644)
I am surprised no one mentioned nostr.

https://nostr.com/

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostr

supposedly more distributed and censorship resistant than bsky. https://thenewstack.io/bluesky-vs-nostr-which-should-develop...

Re:Okay, I Like WezTerm on Monday August 12, 2024 @10:32AM (#41224832)
I use tmux daily. tried to like wezterm but issues with clipboard and resizing made look for another option. Very happy with Tilix now. https://gnunn1.github.io/tilix-web/

maybe less fancy/modern but absolutely rock solid every time.

environment: fedora/wayland/gnome

just throwing this out if anyone wants to test an alternative it out.

well, he is actually Cuban who lives in US and follows the situation. I am willing to believe his take much more than random dudes from CA.

Here's some of his writings on Cuba. https://www.thepullrequest.com/p/the-cuban-tank-man-will-be-...

Ask HN: Do you have a process or a framework to learn specific skills quickly?

Any suggestions/ frameworks on how to learn specific skill, retain the knowledge and be able to share it(in for ex. written form)I usually jump in straight away and start learning "on the job" but I realised that I forget too much and i do not have any notes to refer to later on.Examples of specific skill: - How to write a good cold email - how to learn some snowboarding trick - how to store...

El Salvador not Colombia
Re:El Salvador makes Bitcoin legal tender on Wednesday June 09, 2021 @12:44PM (#27450082)
well, Linux is hugely successful open source project. Virtually everyone is "touched" by it directly or indirectly. It is one of core components of internet infrastructure. Bitcoin could be that.

(of course I am aware that desktop/direct usage is really small)

Re:El Salvador makes Bitcoin legal tender on Wednesday June 09, 2021 @12:12PM (#27449597)
off topic but I am really wondering ... How a story on top of HN (number 1) suddenly drops to number 19 in matter of minutes ?

Algo glitch ? Penalty for mentioning Bitcoin much ?

Re:El Salvador makes Bitcoin legal tender on Wednesday June 09, 2021 @12:09PM (#27449556)
I am just surprised how much negativity is in HN towards Bitcoin. This is the first case of decentralised open source tech winning against big established powers - governments/faceamagoos. We should be celebrating this. I sure hope that Bitcoin is going to be Linux of money/finance.

Lightning might not be at the scale it needs to be now but it will improve greatly. maybe it is good enough already? Like Ruby on Rails. People keep talking about it being slow while massive web applications are being built with and billions of dollars being processed.

It is an opportunity for someone/something to take docker swarm place since complexity of Kubernetes might scare lots of people

This process is very nicely defined in Predictable Revenue by Aaron Ross & Marylou Tyler.
Re:Factorio 1.0 on Friday August 14, 2020 @12:12PM (#24159780)
At least Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke plays Factorio, Starcraft etc.

It seems that Visa is having FOMO moment here. (at least in my opinion)

They do not want to be left out in case all those nerds start scaling Bitcoin or any other altcoin to something that can be used globally and legally.

it is just sad to see the same tactics(people being bullied into "mutual agreement") used now as in 90s in Eastern Europe.

that is good enough reason to not use their product at all.

I am sure there is plenty of capable competitors.

Can anyone recommend good rpm based distro for desktop(business env)?
Re:Mongolia to restore traditional alphabet on Tuesday April 14, 2020 @04:14AM (#22863705)
>> nearly six million in Inner Mongolia, a Chinese region who use the traditional script is used.

seems it is used a lot already - they are just making it a standard.

are there any results/tests that show that one becomes immune after covid-19?
Re:Quarantine Bread on Saturday March 21, 2020 @05:55AM (#22645555)
Instant yeast, 1/12th teaspoon <-- how does one measure that kind of thing ? wouldn't it be easier and more accurate to use grams ?
