Umm. The citizens Iraq and Afghanistan might disagree with you.

Does any candidate support closing US military bases in Germany?
Ere I am JH, the ghost in the machine.
Re:Detaining David Miranda on Tuesday August 27, 2013 @10:55AM (#6283783)
None of this will happen because it is mutually assured destruction. Only unhappy men volunteer for war.
Re:Shon Hopwood and Kopf’s terrible sentencing instincts on Tuesday August 27, 2013 @10:07AM (#6283469)
When Tocqueville (Democracy in America) came to the US in the 1830's it was to study prison reform for the French government. He wrote about an experiment at a youth reformatory that was run democratically by the inmates. No one ever lost their right to vote no matter what they did, but if you behaved you got two votes and could affect the outcome of decisions more. Apparently this worked very well.

Except of course for religion.

I responded asking how far it should go. My name is for people like you.
Re:How many keystrokes do you have left? on Monday August 26, 2013 @12:18PM (#6277969)
I was a little upset when I was forced to take typing in junior high. Now I think I should send them a thank you letter as I watch everyone hunt and peck.
Re:Detained in the US for “Visiting Thailand Too Much” on Monday August 26, 2013 @11:27AM (#6277636)
Is it not the same elswhere? It is at least in the UK, what about the rest of Europe?
Re:Defeated on Monday August 26, 2013 @10:36AM (#6277301)
They could see you from a satellite so you should never go out on sunny days? Where does it end?
Re:Defeated on Monday August 26, 2013 @07:22AM (#6276313)
While not being able to opt out is more restrictive, it is probably much quicker, go through or don't fly, done.
Re:Defeated on Monday August 26, 2013 @07:16AM (#6276295)
For what possible fucking reason! This is foolishness or possibly a form of mental illness.
Re:Defeated on Monday August 26, 2013 @06:50AM (#6276203)
Even if you pay in cash the NSA will get those tapes and know he was at Home Depot. :P
No your governments are getting the data as well.
Pretending this is just an American problem actually benefits the US because the info sharing deals will continue uncontested as participating countries are given a pass. Never mind those military bases in Germany or the five eyes. The West is intertwined, hell the whole world is, but deceive yourself if you like.
If Darth Vader has bases in your country that he is fighting wars from you can't say you're with the rebels.
How do you think you are going to damage the US economy without damaging your own?
Yes and German citizens are responsible for the US military bases there as well as intelligence sharing deals their gov made.
So Germany should close the US bases there?
While that is cute, MLK's original quote still stands. The arc bends towards justice, it's just that this is the internet age so we demand total justice, instantly with no effort.
Re:UK government now leaking documents about itself on Friday August 23, 2013 @10:26AM (#6263775)
I know your excited but please don't put words in my mouth.
Re:UK government now leaking documents about itself on Friday August 23, 2013 @10:02AM (#6263638)
I never said any of that. The title states it as fact, there are no facts.
Re:UK government now leaking documents about itself on Friday August 23, 2013 @08:48AM (#6263114)
The claim that the UK gov leaked this appears to be complete conjecture. It may be correct, but there are no facts, even circumstantial, to back this claim.
Re:Don't Fly During Ramadan on Thursday August 22, 2013 @07:09PM (#6260695)
There has been a noted increase of posts containing "lol" and other indicators of decline.

Edit: If you think posts with lol are a good thing please say why.

Re:Don't Fly During Ramadan on Thursday August 22, 2013 @04:02PM (#6259675)
Stallman has said as much. But if he said the US are Nazis that would be helpful, right?
Re:Four fears for authoritarians on Thursday August 22, 2013 @01:29PM (#6258553)
Yay, nanny state!
Re:Four fears for authoritarians on Thursday August 22, 2013 @11:40AM (#6257812)
I suppose you can defend giving someone jailtime for hurt feelings, but it sounds pretty stupid to me.
Re:Four fears for authoritarians on Thursday August 22, 2013 @10:49AM (#6257470)
Only unhappy men volunteer for war.
Re:Four fears for authoritarians on Thursday August 22, 2013 @10:46AM (#6257446)
Yeah, in some parts of the "first world" you can do prison time for a tweet.
