Awesome! Joby needs trained pilots so that may be a bottleneck to scaling. I am guessing they would have to create autonomous air taxis like EHang to scale.

If your project is on Github, you can also use https://deepwiki.com/. I have used it to get an overview of a new codebase quickly.
Great work! Does this method have any distinct advantages over infecting mosquitos with Wolbachia? Thank you.
Re:I have tinnitus. I don't recommend it on Wednesday May 21, 2025 @09:13PM (#44057812)
There was an earlier thread on tinnitus https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=21572827 where people had some techniques for relief. Maybe this could be useful.
Re:Why lead is still bad for your brain on Friday April 11, 2025 @06:47AM (#43652450)
You can buy a Lead Test Kit and check it yourself https://www.epa.gov/lead/lead-test-kits
I think there would be open-source machine variants that many people could own and modify. As population growth is slowing, finite resources should hopefully have a better and wider distribution among people as they would not be constraints.
Re:Egypt declared malaria-free after 100-year effort on Monday October 21, 2024 @09:00PM (#41910163)
Incredible news! This should be replicated in tropics everywhere. In Singapore, the government is using Wolbachia mosquitoes to control the spread of vector mosquitoes, which looks like another effective solution.

Re:Scaling up linear programming with PDLP on Sunday September 22, 2024 @09:54PM (#41621721)
In a professional context, I use it to help a client (chemicals company) optimize their deliveries to customers. They have > 100 production sites and thousands of customers, so LP is used to allocate customers to production sites based on the product-cost and availability at supply site and trucking costs. We have evaluated multiple solvers (Gurobi/ Llamasoft/ GAMS/ LocalSolver etc) for optimizing deliveries, as well as evaluating the cost impact of changes to the delivery network.
Nonplussed can mean either, just discussed here a month ago https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40197346
Re:Calculus with Julia on Sunday May 19, 2024 @01:57AM (#40404560)
IMHO a HS student learning Calculus should first learn the subject with pen and paper for a while before programming. It is important to work through the problems and think about the fundamental concepts involved, rather than thinking about the syntax involved in coding their solutions. Practising with pen and paper helps to internalize the subject matter better.

Just being pedantic - it is dyed in the wool, not died :)
Re:Ask HN: Why haven't bookmarks been re-invented? on Thursday December 29, 2022 @09:10PM (#34180937)
Chrome history has a Journeys tab which groups links together based on the same principle.
For cases like these, I use sql views - CREATE VIEW view as SELECT * .. Then DROP VIEW view.

Re:Life in the Slow Lane: the slow cooker changed the world on Thursday November 24, 2022 @05:58AM (#33729903)
Have you tried a toaster oven. It heats up almost instantly, and makes great toast so you don't really need a toaster either.

It did not redirect me on Edge. I'm in Singapore, so maybe that's why.
For Vitamin D synthesis, the sun needs to be at an angle of 50 degrees or higher. Depending on the latitude where you live, the sun may not get that high all winter so you may need to supplement.
The most important thing I learned on Tralfamadore was that when a person dies he only appears to die. He is still very much alive in the past, so it is very silly for people to cry at his funeral. All moments, past, present and future, always have existed, always will exist. The Tralfamadorians can look at all the different moments just that way we can look at a stretch of the Rocky Mountains, for instance. They can see how permanent all the moments are, and they can look at any moment that interests them. It is just an illusion we have here on Earth that one moment follows another one, like beads on a string, and that once a moment is gone it is gone forever.
This is how I have learnt various languages - by speaking while learning. However, Stephen Krashen's Input Hypothesis expounds that language acquisition occurs only during exposure to new language and not while speaking. Do people who give up learning a language still understand what is being spoken by the other person in that lang, even if they themselves may not be able to construct a sentence?
I think Netflix has lost touch with their consumer base, with most changes such as removal of the rating system being universally criticized. I cancelled my subscription recently as I realized that while Netflix has a lot of shows, there is a dearth of quality content and the search function is not useful. With shows like Friends and Office leaving, there is not much to draw people who like leaving it on in the background. Also, the auto-playing of trailers at full volume is super-annoying.
Reminds me of http://hackertyper.com/ where you can pretend to program if someone comes around.
