Re:One Must Fall 2097 Remastered on Saturday October 24, 2026 @10:29AM (#50221577)
Part of the charm of the graphics for games of this time was that they were pre-rendered from 3d models. A simple upscale doesn't really do it justice. I'd try re-generating the actual models, then pre-rendering them again in higher res. That might look better.

Also the character portraits are pure nightmare fuel. You went from anime style illustrations to this weird semi-illustrated but with skin textures look. Gross. Those could probably be fixed with better prompting. But yeah, maybe work on the art direction part.

Edit: I guess the graphics are from 3d models? Maybe the textures just need updating then, or like, less upscaling since the original models were basically just flat colors for the most part.

Only if the support discord isn't actually for support and just for venting, which seems to be the case for Cloudflare's.
Careful with Cloudflare's "free" AI tier if you use paid workers. I was never able to get an answer on why I was billed for their confusing neuron usage for stuff that should have been covered under their usage limits. Their customer support just ignored my ticket. Apparently it's a known issue that they don't give a shit based on discussions in their support Discord.
Re:Show HN: Jevman – AI decision models play Pac-Man on Thursday October 08, 2026 @10:56PM (#50015449)
Shouldn't it be running at every tick of the game rather than just the junctions? Pac-Man should be able to change direction at any point.

Reminds me of when I used the Amazon.com AI Chatbot (was called Rufus and they renamed it to Alexa for shopping) to do things like write fizbuzz etc. Looks like they patched it to refuse though.

Super weird that they went to the trouble of finding all the samples and the output audio has noticeable lag in it. Compare to the original and you can hear it lagging in the 3rd measure. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLrsUOA4Vb4
Re:Amazon to Shut Down All Amazon Go and Amazon Fresh Stores on Tuesday January 27, 2026 @06:12PM (#46788522)
lol are you me? There was also a loophole with the coupons where it only used the total before discounts to validate the limit was met, so you could buy something that was $10 or 2 for $15, but the 2 would count as $20 towards your $40 limit.

I moved away from Seattle a while back so I'm not sure if they ever closed that one. I really miss getting all those cheap groceries!

cool story, AI

It really reads like a LinkedIn engagement post.

I hadn't heard of Jot before. Looks really interesting and useful for a bunch of applications.
Re:We Took Apart Some Beats Headphones on Saturday July 11, 2015 @01:12PM (#9870605)
Maybe because when a product "seems" too light, people actually complain about it. Beats is all about perceived value vs actual quality anyway.

Remember when the iPhone 5 was deemed too light?

Re:My Experience Interning at a YC Startup on Friday May 01, 2015 @12:49PM (#9472777)
I've been told by people that my sense of humor is actually pretty normal/average.
Thanks for the feedback!

I know, the spinner looks terrible! I just haven't gotten around to making it look better since most people will probably use the bookmarklet if they use it at all. Same with the I'm feeling lucky button, just wanted to make it easy for people to see the proof of concept without going to twitter, copying and pasting.

Re:Geobin: RequestBin for geographic data on Thursday July 03, 2014 @02:15PM (#7984722)
Very nice! I was working on a similar concept, though more for streaming location data rather than GeoJSON (drawing mobile device paths, visualizing accuracy, etc).

I haven't gotten around to making an official blog post announcement but it's here on github for anyone who is interested: https://github.com/hungtruong/pinbin

Heh, I was mainly out to beat my co-workers, though if one of my co-workers was a fellow programmer I'd probably have had to improve on my algorithm.
Re:Winning at Candy Crush on Friday November 15, 2013 @04:16PM (#6742197)
I just checked my old archive folders and it looks like the code was lost when Dreamhost borked up my home directory a few years back. I assure you it was pretty gross :)

Awesome! I once wrote a boggle solver to beat my friends at Bogglific on Facebook. It was loads of fun until I was banned from the game.

Re:How to Hack LinkedIn on Monday July 08, 2013 @03:00PM (#6008494)
I'm not seeing the keyword stats, either. Could be a premium feature?
+1 for Duo. I actually wrote a Chef recipe for enabling 2-factor auth on Linux.

https://github.com/hungtruong/chef-duo-unix

It's my first recipe so feedback would be appreciated if you actually use it!
