Pixelfed, a decentralized alternative.
Anyway I created a post mentioning Keybase on our community forum to a topic where we track similar identity systems and technologies.

Ask HN: Keybase.io About Transparency and Open Alpha status

Keybase is widely used by members of HN, and discussed in many threads before. I really like the ideas behind the software and the vision to bring public key encryption to the masses. But what I find odd, and not addressed in any discussions I've seen, is that a commercial company (Keybase Inc) that is about delivering products to prove ones identity, has so little information about themselves....

Ask HN: More background on these Brave browser findings?

Interesting thread on the fediverse about Brave browser, but lacking more background and sources. This toot [0] and this msg:"first, they sold exceptions to privacy tracking to Facebook and Twitter, now it comes out they've got a header override that allows them to set header exceptions on demand."[0] https://glitch.social/@tessaracht/101572578668968885

This really shows the power of money, size and market dominance, and on the consumer side of course the power of the business model of providing 'free' products and services. Convenience, network effects, FOMO, and very little awareness of what the dangers and capabilities of progressing surveillance capitalism now and in the future are, or the impact of (big) tech on society.

There are hopeful trends, but it is a David against Goliath fight, going back and forth and really slowly.

Am I reading correctly that when you have a forum (e.g. Discourse) which is non-commercial i.e. for an open community, that any users uploading stuff or quoting article sections are exempt from this regulation (even though the forum is hosted on Discourse servers on a paid plan)?
