Is this bug logged?

The submitted link itself is 404 .. funny
Wow, I just realized Open Library covers like 80% of Goodreads as well: read/to-read lists, ratings, yearly reading goals. Seems like https://openlibrary.org itself would be a fine Goodreads alternative if you don't want to set up your own Bookwyrm instance.
Where does it get the list of books from? I thought that was always the biggest challenge with sites like Goodreads etc. Goodreads both (A) pulls data from Amazon, and (B) has an army of volunteer "librarians" who have additional privileges to merge duplicate books etc.

It worked on my older "DS 216+II". Could not stream more than 1 person at a time though. That was ok for my usage but not sure for yours.

I recently upgraded to "DS 423+" and it's a lot faster - can have multiple streams going if I want.

If you follow their naming conventions it works great: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows/ -- https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/ ... but I admit that most people don't want to do that.

Have been using Jellyfin on my synology server for the past 2 years. It's a dream, but you do need to name your files/directories per their naming convention: https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/shows/ -- https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/server/media/movies/

I use "DS Audio", the web/native app that comes with Synology home NAS. It works pretty well. Probably not as well as Plex or Jellyfin. Has anyone used both?

This is why the NPM warnings are such a problem too. https://overreacted.io/npm-audit-broken-by-design/

A bit heavy on the anti-Musk tirades for my taste.

Thanks for the information. I'm interested, but can't figure out:

Where is the data stored? "In the cloud" (on their servers)? Is there an option to store the data locally and never connect to their servers?

I think you're being over sensationalist. In today's world I think it's healthy to assume someone is trying to reach for the truth instead of assuming malice. She's trying to present her findings and asking for feedback. I don't think that should be demonized - we've all been wrong before. Please watch the video.
Re:Johns Hopkins: Heart Disease Deaths Dropped in 2020 [pdf] on Monday November 30, 2020 @09:27AM (#25254023)
> overblown, misleading, and potentially outright lies

I agree with you that her claims could be wrong, but please watch the original source material (https://youtu.be/3TKJN61aflI) - I think she is being much more nuanced that you're giving her credit for. She is presenting her findings, showing exactly how she did it, and asking for feedback ("I hope I hear more from people who have done more than me" - 43:10).

You can follow her workflow and disagree - and probably will! But that's ok - that's how science works. I look forward to many well-written posts going through her analysis and showing alternate interpretations. I'm guessing she looks forward to this too.

This article was retracted (referenced in another thread), but it was essentially a summary of the source webinar that is still posted (but oddly unlisted) here: https://youtu.be/3TKJN61aflI

I encourage you to watch that video and judge the analysis yourself. In this video I feel like she is very balanced and is taking a scientific approach ("Here's how I did the analysis and here's what I'm saying - please let me know what you think") vs the media/twitter trying to summarize/polarize.

Don't like this? Try a Reddit alternative like https://ruqqus.com/
Is public money going toward this? If not, why do you care how a private individual uses their money?
