I'd used Nomorobo since inception but found more calls getting through, mostly neighbor scams. Went looking for a new call blocker and they are all similar. Hiya had built in support for neighbor scam which was a huge percentage of my inbound spam. It's worked as well as Nomorobo plus it blocks neighbor spam, so I'm ahead at the moment.
I just switched to Hiya from Nomorobo and the premium version allows for this, referred to as the "neighbor scam". It's worked really well, between my number and Gvoice I was getting 50 of these calls a week.
I've seen a lot of people dismissing this as insignificant. It's not when you realize that while Dorsey is a billionaire, the majority of his wealth is illiquid (tied up in Twitter and Square). He's clearly sold Twitter stock to get liquidity at various points and should not be faulted for that because it's logical. A quick scan of his sales (which are infrequent compared to other insiders) leads me to believe this was non-trivial portion of his liquid net worth.

That looks really cool, would love to see a mobile version of this.

Brilliant. 37signals inspired a generation of developers, nearly every modern web framework and dozens of direct competitors. Makes complete sense to double down on their biggest winner. Many people talk about cutting, simplifying, focus, editing - but few people and even fewer companies follow through on it.
Re:Why I'm Moving My Business From San Francisco To St. Louis on Friday January 24, 2014 @01:44PM (#7116596)
Former STL startup founder here (slicehost). We were from St Louis, so starting the business here made sense and gave us several distinct advantages (cheap power, data center space, etc).

For startups, it's currently an ideal place IMO. There are quality people here doing whatever it takes to help people get a business started. Money? They can help. Space? They can help. Introductions? They can help. A low cost of living gives you plenty of time to figure things out. Throw in a ton of good restaurants, a decent art/music scene, a couple of good universities and you have something worth serious consideration. Biggest downsides are weather (winters are chilly) and you need a car.

I second these and also recommend the new QC20's. Neither offer the best sound quality, but hands down the best noise canceling capabilities. The QC20's are in-ear and much more wearable outside of the office.

I'd love to see more detail on number of people for payroll and especially healthcare, that seems SUPER expensive.

+1 on the Ubiquiti recommendation. Nothing but good experiences.

Re:Everyday.me (YC S12) - an "Evernote for Your Life" on Thursday August 09, 2012 @11:37PM (#4364756)
As an introvert who is in the process of deleting their facebook account for privacy reasons, I see real value in this. I'd like to keep a private journal more in line path/instagram/twitter - just for me. That being said I have a couple pieces of advice:

Make sure I can export ALL of the data, anytime. Make sure you securely backup all of my data. CHARGE ME for this service, so I know you won't sell my data. Only way I'll do this is if you address my privacy concerns.

I've spoken with the founders and from what I understand they basically gutted and rewrote Etherpad. It's been used at both Pycon and SXSW which I'm assuming was pretty heavy load.
Check out hackpad.
Re:Salesforce buys Assistly for $50M in cash on Wednesday September 21, 2011 @11:36PM (#3024747)
Cash is almost always better, because it is immediate and without risk (as in stock price cratering before you can sell it).

Blueprint author here. Our goal is dead simple configuration management, so it might be just what you need. Check it out and feel free to email me with any questions [email protected]

Blueprint (https://github.com/devstructure/blueprint)

Blueprint I/O (https://github.com/devstructure.com/blueprint-io)

If you're new to Blueprint, it's an open-source tool for reverse engineering servers. Detects packages, file changes, source installs and bundles everything up into a reusable format - a blueprint.

Blueprint I/O is a transport tool for blueprints, all of the configuration information and file tarballs can be sent to other servers for reuse. We think it's a no-fuss way to get started in configuration management. No DSLs, no extra servers and no workflow changes.
