So... what's a good Linux distro comparison site? Just asking for a friend.
What? DEFINITELY astro turfed if you know what to look for.

At the very least by Chinese agents or useful idi*ts. The amount (or, alternatively, visibility) of Chinese apologists in this website is totally disproportionate)

Jeez, what car is this?

No they aren't. F*ck China and its genocidal dictatorship.
Re:SpaceX Rockets Put Passenger Planes at Risk on Friday January 09, 2026 @12:01PM (#46555985)
All Rockets Put Passenger Planes at Risk. There, I fixed that for you.

These breakups fall within a statistical analysis sent by SpaceX to the FAA requesting a permit to launch, and the FAA approves it. Like with all other US rockets. The fact that nobody was harmed is proof the system is working.

I agree with this, although I prefer to phrase it as "being useful to others (and appreciated)".

I'd think this is universal but it's interesting to see others in this thread that disagree.

His retirement was sad and his death tragic. I wish his family would release the second half of his autobiography.
Lol. Here have my upvote
I may give it a try... again.
At least OnShape should work. I haven't tried it.
Or... they can use Windows and not have to bend over backwards. I know this because I keep trying and giving up believe me.
Can I run Solidworks on Linux yet? Excel? Labview? Vivado? Adobe products? Altium Designer? (Matlab is mostly yes) Not everybody is just writing Javascript and PHP.

Can I get a laptop to sleep after closing the lid yet?

Not that long ago the answer to these questions was mostly no (or sort of yes... but very painfully)

On Windows all of this just works.

"Screen of death" in Windows? I haven't heard of one of those in over a decade.

Ew
Re:Anthropic acquires Bun on Tuesday December 02, 2025 @03:42PM (#46126550)
That's ridiculous. Not it isn't even close.
No

You are the clueless

Baaahaahaa. Awesome!
Aaand this confirms once again that this website is in a bubble. Everybody else in the world uses Windows.
Re:Think Weirder: The Year's Best SciFi Ideas on Monday November 10, 2025 @01:41PM (#45879251)
Not even Greg Egan? He's pretty popular.
Now you are really starting to bend over backwards. The claim was that MS was a state enterprise. It's still not even close.
Exactly
Re:Anduril: Amusement Park for Engineers on Saturday August 30, 2025 @11:13PM (#45080046)
This sounds like such a sad and awful place. Some brilliant yet naive young people are being taken advantage of. (source: I was just like that at that age)
I don't think you know what state backed enterprise means. You or anybody who spouts this.
No it isn't
Hehehe. I have talked to John Carmack a few times. He's super harsh and has zero filter or social niceties (Azperger's level, not that he is, but just sayin'). If you are not used to it or understand where it's coming from, it can be quite a shock. Or at least he was, many years ago. Maybe he's changed.
Re:Self-Taught Engineers Often Outperform on Thursday July 17, 2025 @07:23PM (#44599419)
That's exactly what it is. Somebody who is self taught is _by design_ somebody who's extremely motivated and interested in the subject.

Oops, Margaret Hamilton is a terrible example and immediately makes me lose respect for the rest of the article. She was famously mostly a manager who received the credit for the work of others. Read the book by Don Eyles and read between the lines.

(uh oh here come the downvotes)
