Realistically there are only about 1 million bitcoin users in total worldwide. It is still very early days. We are aiming to make OpenBazaar a common ecommerce standard using Bitcoin that will allow people to build trustworthy marketplaces on top in many different ways. It's not just about overrunning eBay, it's about providing a global, user-driven and open-source network that will grow in scale as Bitcoin does. The escrow capability is certainly an experiment in many ways, but it also is being done in other countries successfully and we think it's one of the best ways to create a marketplace of trustworthy arbiters rather than have a centralized corporation with rigid policies that treat customers unfairly in most cases.
You have the choice between direct payment transactions which is more risky and should only be used between known parties and then there is a 2 of 3 party multisig escrow transaction that allows a moderator to be an arbitrator for problems and funds are only released if 2 of the 3 parties agree.
Probably UPS got pissed about them slamming the API or maybe it exposed people to theft since everyone could find out where they were going?
Wow. Lot of feedback, really helpful! I will definitely try what I can and see how it goes. Thanks much.

I opened up shop a little over six months ago and as of today we sit around 300 users. I'm a single founder of a web site called TheMovieTracker.com and although we've had steady increase in usage (very gradual but not downward) it hasn't really taken hold. I'm also aware that it's in a very competitive segment, but that doesn't keep a lot of site from doing much better that I've been doing....
dude stop being so old. not everyone is a crusty old programmer that can't be hyped up by anything. there used to be a time when programming was fun and we enjoyed being pumped up about new technologies. chill out MOTHER FUCKER!
I agree. I would have to concede that sometimes the algorithm is not perfect (nor do I believe it ever could be). I took a glance at the Lord of the Rings and some of the ways that this movie was tagged made it appear stronger in certain categories that would recommend those movies. I have modified the analysis of the movie and I think the recommendations are a little more pertinent.
Thanks!
This comment has really resonated with me as I read it once again. I see this same tired comment on so many threads. Nowhere did I say that I want someone to do all the work for me. I guess there must be a lot of people out there that just want people to shoulder most of the load, but that's not what I'm looking for. I think even the most junior entrepreneur could realize that an idea is not as valuable as the strength of a team or ability to implement an idea. Also I'm not really sure where profit comes into play. There was no mention or discussion of profit or pay nor would I bring that up on a purely exploratory post like this one.
Ratings are included but the weights are possibly not adjusted correctly. It's a work in progress. One man project as well at this time, hence the request.
I am a programmer already, if you look at the link I have created all of this myself. I am merely explaining the type of partner that I expect to team up with. I'm not a nobody idea man.

I am looking for someone who is interested in working on an existing web application that has the vision and excitement behind building something that is fun and useful to it's users.I also need a partner who is well versed in more that just programming, but is willing to wear multiple hats (i.e. marketing, customer support, developing, design, etc.).If you would like more information about...

Javascript. Learn it asap. HTML obviously and then use what you know already for SQL and Java/C++ to code the backend. You already have a lot of the framework for it having done application development.

I have a web site (http://www.themovietracker.com) that I launched a few weeks back. I've had previous sites and generally you start out forcing your friends to join and then you slowly work out to other methods (ads, fan pages, etc.) but usually devolves into soliciting random people to check it out. This generally leads to someone accusing you of spamming. How do you kick off your site,...
Wow! Thanks for the great feedback. I am sorry for the Facebook Connect issue, I'm in parallel working on a mobile version and the authentication kinks need to get worked out. I appreciate all the time you spent into doing what you did and writing it out. I was beginning to think I wouldn't get any feedback.
I will definitely be changing some of this stuff as you pointed out some things I didn't think of such as the membership options being presumptuous. I agree.
I need feedback. I have been putting together this web site and I have not been successful in getting much feedback. Please help. I am looking for feedback in any area. Usability, UI, features, functionality, etc. Please help!
Keep in mind, work in progress!!!

Ship them to you, no printing at this time. Generic vouchers good for any show, any time.
I haven't done much research, but I do know of other very legit sites that do import Netflix ratings. Jinni.com is one example. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm working on creating a Netflix importer option that could bring in all of your ratings. That might help a little in that. Bulk ticket discounts at this point.

This is a second cut at a new application I am developing. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you have. The point of this is to allow users to track movies they've seen and get recommendations for new movies and there is a lot more other stuff being added. You are also able to subscribe to the site and receive discount movie theater tickets.http://movies.blinkindustries.comThanks!
Just have to throw in some positive notes on this one. I use this actually from a VM on Mac Snow Leopard and it works great. Personally I don't install IE6 only on my VMs. With Spoon I can test IE6-8, Opera, Chrome, and Firefox all at once. So don't bash just nod with the first person who mentioned it doesn't work on OSX and move on.
that is sick, thanks for the tip.
Movie info is coming from several different sources. A lot is coming from wikipedia.

I am working on a side project that reflects my deep passion for movies. I want to provide a service that allows everyone to track movies they watch, sort of in the way that people track exercising daily. This site is way way alpha and is purely proof of concept right now, but I would love some early feedback if you have some spare cycles to take it for a spin.I'm opening up the floor with...
